Olivia Newton-John’s final words were just as bright as her soul.
During a Friday interview on Today, the Grease star’s daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, opened up about her final moments with her mother, revealing the Hopelessly Devoted to You singer’s final, comforting words to her were:
“My sunshine.”
Ugh… Equal parts devastating and beautiful — you can just tell what a close bond Olivia had with her only child.

Chloe added that her mother kept a light heart right up until the very end:
“Right before she lost her ability to speak, she was making jokes.”
The icon sadly passed back in August 2022 at 73 years old after a years-long battle with breast cancer. In the time since, Chloe has been uplifted and supported by fans of the late actress:
“It has felt like a big hug from the universe. I’m very grateful for all of the people who reached out to us and extended their heart and their connection.”
She continued:
“I love my mom more than anything. She’s my momma, you know? She’s not Olivia Newton-John to me, but I’m so glad that she was Olivia Newton-John for so many people.”
While this marks the 37-year-old’s first television interview since her mother’s passing, she’s paid tribute to her on social media several times, like this throwback carousel:
Olivia’s husband, John Easterling, who sat next to his stepdaughter during the emotional interview, added that every day, he misses his wife of 15 years, calling her “an extraordinary human being.” However, some “empowering” advice he received has helped him carry on:
“When you’re lucky enough to have found your true soulmate and you share a heart, when one passes, the other has the obligation to live life for both.”
A difficult truth, but an important one. Watch their full interview (below):
