Update: Smoking Orangutan Is Quitting

Remember, Shirley? The orangutan from a Malaysian zoo who has a smoking habit?

Well we’re glad to report she’ll be quitting her smoking habit!

Shirley was rescued by authorities from the zoo and taken to a new sanctuary where the zoo director assures that she will not be provided with anymore cigarettes because:

“…smoking is not normal behaviour for orangutans”.

Yeah, we’d think so.

Shirley is quarantined at the zoo as she tries to quit cold turkey.

She’s apparently not depressed and doing well so far.
