We all know about the frenzy that ensued following Peter Weber‘s season of The Bachelor!
Many of us stuck around to watch the 28-year-old fumble through failed connections with Hannah Ann Sluss and Madison Prewett before choosing to settle down with former contestant Kelley Flanagan. The pairing initially came as a surprise, but they quickly became one of the most talked-about quarantine couples! And if those headlines weren’t enough, the airline pilot recently opened up about why he ultimately chose to pursue the Chicago-based lawyer.
Instead of another podcast appearance or witty TikTok video, Weber utilized a Cameo birthday message he created for a 16-year-old fan to share the “inside scoop” about Flanagan:
“You guys want some inside scoop here on why I ultimately picked Kelley? All right, here’s what I can do. To be completely honest, I think just the nature of the show definitely works and I’ve said that since day one. I still believe it works, but I think specifically for the type of relationship between, you know, Kelley and myself just wasn’t the most organic type of situation for us if it was going to actually work. And that’s OK, that’s totally OK because each relationship is different.”
So, the show’s lightning-fast formula for falling in love works but wasn’t practical for them, specifically. Uhh, okay! We bet show producers aren’t going to be happy about that one…
Weber went on to recall a dinner he had with Hannah Brown during her Bachelorette season, where he shared a Spanish saying his grandmother often repeated to him. He said the proverb helped him navigate ups and downs while appearing on the ABC show and also had an impact on his decision to work things out with Kelley:
“No matter what happens, let the waters run. That’s essentially what it says in Spanish. What’s meant for you [and] what’s yours will always be yours, and nothing can ever change that. So obviously we’ll see what the future holds for Kelley and I, but I think it’s a beautiful story, definitely a beautiful love story of what’s yours is yours and it will always come back to you, no matter what.”
Aww, that’s actually pretty cute!
Or, a bit of a cop out for the way his indecisiveness hurt a lot of people along the way. But alls well that ends well, right? The former reality TV star continued:
“That’s kind of always been our relationship. We’ve kept coming back in each other’s lives. So the way I look at it, [it’s] definitely an unorthodox way [of finding love] but [it] definitely worked in the end.”
These two did share a chance encounter before they officially met when filming on The Bachelor began last fall, so that definitely tracks! Now, they’re Instagram official and moving full speed ahead with the full support of their family and loved ones. Peter and Kelley even dished out a little dating advice after singing “Happy Birthday” to the fan, joking she should “just have fun” right now and maybe find love on national TV when she gets older.
We’d steer clear of that last bit, LOLz! Watch the cute clip reposted by the fan account @BachelorNation.Scoop. (below):
