Pink and Brandi Carlile Honor Sinéad O'Connor With Gorgeous 'Nothing Compares 2 U' Cover

Pink and Brandi Carlile just mourned the loss of Sinéad O’Connor in the most beautiful way.

The Irish singer passed away on Wednesday at 56 years old, something which has been painful for all of us — but hit those in the music world hardest of all. Pink and Brandi are currently touring together amid the Trustfall artist’s North American Summer Carnival tour, and they had a stop in Cincinnati, Ohio, the same evening as news broke about the heartbreaking death.

According to Billboard, Pink used her moment under the spotlight to honor the fallen artist, whom she grew up being so inspired by. She said during the concert:

“When I was a little girl, my mom grew up in Atlantic City and I used to go down to the Ocean City Boardwalk with my ten dollars and I would make a demo tape. I would make a little cassette tape and imagine it was my demo for the record company.”

She continued:

“And it would always be either Greatest Love of All by Whitney Houston or Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinéad O’Connor. So in honor of Sinéad, and in honor of my very, very talented friend, Brandi Carlile, I asked her if she would come out here and sing this song with me.”

The duo then performed the classic track the Sinéad way — and one fan called it “so beautiful, it made me cry.” Whoa. Take a listen (below):

In her Instagram Story, Brandi called it a “bittersweet moment.” The song is one of the most touching tracks of all time even without this heartbreaking context.

As we reported, the beloved artist was sadly found unresponsive at a south London home on Wednesday, where she was pronounced dead by first responders. In a statement to People, a spokesperson for Scotland Yard confirmed the death was “not being treated as suspicious,” but few other details have been released. We still don’t know what took the songstress from us at such a young age.

Sinéad had a long history of mental health challenges and was open about her grief following the recent loss of her 17-year-old son, who died by suicide last year. Pink and Brandi are among many who are mourning her loss at this time.

One more time, here’s Sinéad’s legendary version of the Prince original… R.I.P.
