We’re beginning to think Pope Benedict isn’t a fan of gay marriage.
The Pope addressed diplomats of over 180 countries Monday January 10th on social and economic issues, many of which focused on children (who knew?)
The new surge against marriage equality comes as European countries such as Spain and the Netherlands have legalized gay marriage. This cannot happen in the Pope’s backyard!
Regarding homosexuality, the Catholic church teaches that homosexual TENDENCIES are not sinful but homosexual ACTS are. We don’t really know where to start about how contradictary that sounds.
In the States, gay marriage continues to cause some ruckus. When New York State passed gay marriage, NY Archbishop Timothy Dolan wrote a letter to President Obama critcizing his lack of instituting a federal ban on gay marriage.
He stated that such a policy “precipitate a national conflict between church and state of enormous proportions.”
Last time we checked the Constitution, those two things aren’t even SUPPOSED to coexist…
At all!!!
But don’t fret; for all his hard work, Dolan is getting promoted to cardinal!
Plus, the Catholic church is willing to accept those willing to leave their Protestant Christianity for Roman Catholic if they think their denomination is getting too gay.
Some denominations have allowed gay marriage, women priests, gay clergy and gay bishops so many are leaving for the Catholic church.
Anglicans have especially been antsy, stating their church is getting too liberal. Benedict has decreed that any Anglican converting to Catholicism can be allowed to keep some of their traditions.
How accepting of you!
HA!
