Call him by his name!!
Despite not actively using his surname or royal title, Prince Harry is “not planning to officially drop his Mountbatten-Windsor title legally,” a source shared with Us Weekly.

The insider told of the 35-year-old’s decision:
“The bottom line is, he prefers to keep it casual and be known as ‘Harry.'”
Obviously, this is a big change from what he’s done his entire life, and has “reassured” his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, that this decision is “not a personal dig.” The confidant noted:
“She still means the world to him.”
We saw this coming quite a while ago, TBH, when he requested to be called just “Harry” during his speaking event at an eco-tourism summit on behalf of his travel conservation program, Travalyst. At the time, the host made a very telling remark before the royal took the stage. Ayesha Hazarika told the crowd in Edinburgh, Scotland:
“He’s made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry.”
This took place shortly after he and Meghan Markle announced their intentions to step down from their senior roles in the royal family for a “financially independent” lifestyle, but prior to any conversations with his fam about specifics. Per reports, Lord Thurso, the Visit Scotland Chair, said:
“I was about to call him Your Royal Highness, but I’ll just introduce Harry!”
It’s unclear what this all means for Meg, whose legal name prior to her May 2018 nuptials was Rachel Meghan Markle, and was up until recently Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.
As we’ve shared, their son’s full moniker is Master Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who has not held any HRH titles since birth. It wasn’t entirely surprising they chose not to follow in tradition like cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, especially if they had in mind that they would be stepping away all along.
Technically, members of the royal family who carry HRH titles do not legally require a last name, but if they do need one, they can use “Mountbatten-Windsor,” which is a combination of Price Philip and the Queen’s last names. Considering the Sussexes no longer have HRH titles, it’s not quite clear what applies to them out in the real world.
