How Prince William & Princess Catherine Have Gotten Back To 'Normal' Life Amid Her Cancer Recovery!

Prince William and Princess Catherine are just trying to get a hold on their private life together after the hectic whirlwind of the last few months — and now, it sounds like they’ve been able to do just that.

Of course, most notably, Kate Middleton has been battling cancer. She just revealed that she has ended a long chemotherapy treatment push, thankfully. And that’s in addition to William’s father King Charles‘ cancer battle, too. Oh, and the whole s**t show involving William’s estranged brother Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle. Yeah… Lots going on!

But even so, through it all, the Prince and Princess of Wales — both 42 years old — are finally re-finding their center. And they’re doing it together! In a new cover story chat with Us Weekly out on Wednesday, royal author Robert Jobson explained it succinctly:

“They are quite refreshing. At their core, they are very much a normal family.”

To live that “normal family” life, the pair and their children — Prince GeorgePrincess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — first relocated back in 2022 from Kensington Palace in London to Adelaide Cottage outside the city. The modest four-bedroom house is on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and offers the group much more privacy than Kensington Palace did.

Another royal author, Christopher Andersen, explained to Us:

“William and Kate are very hands-on, and they don’t want anyone underfoot 24-7.”

And he meant it, too! Kate had the quaint property completely renovated — per Jobson, the couple funded all the renovations privately — and then the Princess insisted that she and Wills do all the school drop-offs and pick-ups for their kids at local Lambrook School themselves! Jobson noted:

“The Princess believes it is so important to do the little things and do them consistently. Wherever possible she will do the school run [and] she makes a point of being there for the school plays and sports days too.”

Then, when it comes time to return home after school, Kate is in the thick of it in the kitchen, too:

“She loves being in the thick of family mayhem, chaos in the kitchen, and the rough and tumble over what music should be played over breakfast. It is part of the buzz of being a hands-on parent. Those who know the royal couple well say their children and family life is the heart and soul of their world. Watching their children just dancing, messing around and singing brings them real contentment. Those who organize their public life know too that they will always put their family first.”

Andersen shed more light on the meals Kate makes at home, and how the kids help her out from time to time:

“They help make pasta and homemade pizzas, [and have chores] that the highly organized Kate keeps track of. They make their beds every morning and help with the dishes after every meal, and gold stars are handed out accordingly.”

Love it!!

As for their downtime, the couple likes to watch television shows every now and again when they have time. Per Jobson, past favorites have included Game of Thrones and Homeland. But more than that, Will and Kate love to make each other laugh! The author noted:

“Even after all this time together, they still make each other laugh.”

And then Andersen shed more light on their respective senses of humor:

“William and Kate have always shared, for lack of a better word, a goofy sense of humor. Very Monty Python — they crack up at things that are just plain silly. It’s obvious from the way they interact with their children that they are passing this down to George, Charlotte and especially Louis.”

Of course the Brits would go all-in on Monty Python. We would expect nothing less! LOLz!

In the end, there is also a serious turn to all this new normalcy for William, Catherine, and the kids following her chemotherapy completion. Per Andersen, William’s late mother Princess Diana greatly influenced him in the ways of “normal” life to the point that he is still carrying out those traits today:

“Diana wanted her sons to have something approaching a normal childhood, so she took them to McDonald’s and KFC — her favorite fast-food restaurant — to Disney World and water parks and go-cart tracks. But she also took them to homeless shelters and pediatric cancer wards, so they could see real-world problems firsthand. One of the most important things Diana did was make sure her kids were polite to other people and never lorded their tilted status over anyone. When they went to the movies or to get ice cream, her sons waited in line like everybody else. Charles, unfortunately, did the opposite. He was accustomed to getting special treatment… but I think Diana prevailed in the end.”

Andersen added one more thought to conclude that angle, too:

“The Prince and Princess of Wales are remarkably down-to earth, and that’s a quality they are trying to impart to their kids.”

Gotta stay grounded, that’s for sure! Especially after all that they have been through with a family regarding Catherine’s medical ordeal of the last year. Ugh. Tough and humbling times, indeed. Reactions, y’all?? Share ’em (below)!
