This was some sus timing!
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released the first teaser for their new series just HOURS after Princess Catherine dropped that emotional short film announcing she’s ended her chemo treatment and is “cancer free”! Umm, trying to steal her thunder much??
On Monday, Netflix announced the Sussexes’ new project will be a documentary series titled POLO. The show, which will hit the streamer some time in December, “follows elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport.” The sport of POLO? That’s how they’re trying to convince everyone they’re cool and relatable and not at all out-of-touch? POLO???

The wildest part is the news came LESS THAN 2 HOURS after Catherine’s cancer update. Check out the first look (below):

While an exciting announcement for the ex-royals, the fact it came so quickly after Kate Middleton‘s powerful statement on her health was really upsetting to a lot of Anglophiles! Frustrated fans took to the comment section on X (Twitter) to blast the Archewell founders and the streaming service for trying to overshadow the Princess of Wales’ moment, arguing:
“Heart of Invictus couldn’t even get any numbers. This is going to be worse! No one give a rats about [polo]! By the way, everyone is talking about Catherine who is finished chemotherapy. Keep backing those two losers. One day you’ll be just as bankrupt as they are.”
“Show some freaking respect! Nobody cares about stupid pony boy!”
“Posting this straight after Catherine’s announcement about her cancer ensures that not only will I not watch this, I will also cancel Netflix. Screw you.”
“Using a family member’s cancer to help try and promote this flop of a documentary, not cool Netflix.”
“Wow Perfect timing”
“Lmao right on schedule. . .this is so pathetic even for them.”
“I smell desperation. It’s not pleasant.”
“Netflix you backed the wrong horse! #PrincessOfWales #PrinceOfWales”
“F**k off you losers … I’m sure you will release it during Catherine’s Christmas special Boycott Netflix!”
Oh, man! Can you imagine if they tried to compete with Kate’s annual Christmas special? That would be SUPER shady!!
Giving the controversial couple the benefit of the doubt, there’s always the possibility they had this post scheduled to upload on Monday for days, not knowing Kate would open up about her cancer. We mean, to be fair, they aren’t exactly in on royal family decisions anymore.
But still, they had a few hours to course-correct if they wanted to. Instead, it now looks like they’re trying to steal some of her spotlight for themselves! At least, that’s what most fans are taking away. Not great!
BTW, there’s still no word yet on when Meghan’s cooking show will premiere, though sources have said it will likely coincide with the official launch of her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which is currently dealing with trademark issues. It’ll certainly be inneresting to see if they match the announcement of that show with any other big royal news or if this was merely a coincidence.
