Rachael Yamagata released her debut, Happenstance, way back in 2004. It was one of our favorite “girl with piano” albums from that decade. Singer/songwriter, revealing, melodic – it really connected with us!
She has released a good amount of material since then, but nothing has resonated with us like Happenstance. Until now!
Yamagata has released a new EP, which in our eyes and thankful ears is a return to form.
The title track, Heavyweight, reminds us why we fell in love with Rachael in the first place!
It is so simple yet stirring! Just piano, strings, her haunting vocals, an exquisite melody and smart lyrics. So beautiful! So GOOD!
If you like Regina Spektor or Sia, then you’re really gonna dig this song! Check it out above!
