Rick Springfield, made famous by his super-hit “Jessie’s Girl,” reveals some of his dark past.
Rick has written a tell-all memoir called Late Last Night, in which he talks about his struggle with depression.
It turns out that it was so bad for him that he tried to commit suicide when he was 17. He explains that after he didn’t go through with it, he realized that he wanted to make music.
He hopes to reach out to teens that are contemplating ending their life, especially because of the recent suicides.
He wants to let them know that there are people who understand what they are going through. He says, “your life will change. Nothing remains the same. I would have missed out on a lot of amazing stuff in my life.”
Rick explaind that for the longest time he thought he was just a moody musician, however after gaining all his success and fame, and still feeling down, he realized that it was more than just angst.
In his book he also addresses his now healthy relationship with his wife, and is grateful for her.
Rick makes sure to say that despite his past of highs and lows, he doesn’t want to have regrets.
“I’m thankful for serendipitous moments in my life, where things could’ve gone the other way. Over all life is what it is and regretting is a pointless thing.”
We support your message Rick! Everyone’s life is important and you can work through hard times!
