Ronnie Ortiz-Magro Will NOT Be Charged With Kidnapping Over Domestic Incident, But...

Ronnie Ortiz Magro kidnapping charges dropped domestic violence incident Jen Harley

UPDATE 10/24/19 1:13 P.M. PST: While Ronnie dodged felony charges, he has been hit with FIVE misdemeanors!

According to TMZ, the reality TV star is facing one count of domestic violence, one count of brandishing a weapon, one count of child endangerment, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of criminal threats from the Los Angeles City Attorney over the alleged incident earlier this month.

Jen’s attorney also spoke to E! News about the development, explaining she “is the victim in this case” and “any attempts to portray her as anything other than the victim is just wrong.”

Her lawyer continued:

“Everyone acknowledges she was the victim. We don’t contest with what the authorities have done with the charges. We believe her injuries were serious, and could have easily [been] a felony, but the charges he is currently facing shows that the authorities agree that she was the victim of a crime. Her injuries are significant. I don’t think the change in the charges is going to effect the restraining orders she has against him (in LA and Vegas). It bolsters that there were crimes committed, and fortifies the restraining orders that are in place. She’s a resilient woman. Her daughter and her son are very special to her. She is focusing on them right now and is focusing on healing. She is still healing from the physical injuries. She suffered deep contusions and they will take some time to heal.”

Additionally, the attorney added Jen “will likely have to be at the upcoming restraining order hearings.”

UPDATE 10/23/19 2:44 P.M. PST: Ronnie won’t be facing any felony charges over this nasty incident either. Law enforcement sources told TMZ the case didn’t meet the LA County District Attorney’s criteria for the felony domestic charge the LAPD was pushing for.

But he’s not totally in the clear yet: on Wednesday, the DA brought the case to the City Attorney, who will now decide whether or not to slap the father-of-one with a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. The maximum penalty for this charge is 1 year in county jail.

Things are getting at least a little better for Ronnie Ortiz-Magro — at least, in terms of him not being hit with quite as many super-serious charges after his alleged domestic violence incident with ex-GF Jen Harley.

As you’ll no doubt recall, the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star was arrested and charged with kidnapping and a slew of other serious crimes at the very beginning of this month, after an incident with Jen in Los Angeles apparently turned very violent. Worse still, Ronnie’s young daughter Ariana Sky was there and at the center of the alleged altercation, too — so the fallout here has been tremendous.

Well now, according to TMZ, the reality TV mainstay will no longer be facing kidnapping charges specifically, after law enforcement sources reported to the outlet that the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office has decided not to pursue that charge in court. Apparently, police investigation into the incident has determined Ronnie’s alleged actions during the course of the altercation don’t actually meet the DA’s criteria for a kidnapping charge, so they’ll choose not to pursue the particular allegation and instead look at other events during that fateful night.

It must be a bit of a load-off for Ortiz-Magro, for sure, because had he been prosecuted on the kidnapping charge and found guilty, he may have faced up to EIGHT YEARS in prison. Wow!! The Jersey boy better thank his lucky stars the DA is apparently content to miss him with that drama. Maybe learn your lesson this time, Ron…

Not Out Of The Woods Yet…

The kidnapping come-down may be good news for the Jersey Shore fist pumper, but there’s still a major, major problem looming: again according to TMZ, the LAPD is apparently “strongly pushing” for Ronnie to be prosecuted on felony domestic violence charges. Based on the alleged injuries to Harley that are apparently from that night’s fateful incident, the cops want Ronnie to face up to the charges as felonies — and the max penalty there could be up to four years in prison. Not a small amount of time!!!

Now, again, there’s a chance the DA could determine Ronnie’s alleged actions didn’t cross the threshold of misdemeanor domestic violence, and he’d avoid the felony charges altogether. If that’s the call, Ronnie would be facing a MAXIMUM of one year in county jail, and it’s possible he could get a lighter sentence than that, even. Either way, that’s quite the significant drop off from the eight-year potential of a kidnapping conviction, and/or the possible four years in the slammer if Ronnie is ultimately prosecuted on felonies.

One thing is extremely clear here: Ronnie is facing some very, very serious consequences for his alleged actions involving Harley and Ariana. Justice will run its course one way or another, and we’ll see what ends up happening while only hoping that all involved can move on to lead as happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives as possible…
