Sam Asghari is addressing Britney Spears‘ strangest video!
Brit has been expressing herself in dance vids on Instagram for a while now, proving over and over again that even though she isn’t onstage, she’s still got it.
Shortly after she and Sam broke up in 2023, the Toxic singer made headlines when she posted several videos of herself dancing in her living room with large butcher knives in each hand. Folks were immediately concerned for her safety… and her mental health.

Britney swore the blades were “not real,” but no one bought that — since they made a clanking noise when she tapped them together. It was so loud her three dogs scurried away from the Princess of Pop in fear! Take a look!
What made fans even more skeptical… and upset? In other clips, Britney had a large bandage wrapped around her arm and a cut on her thigh, which worried fans that she had accidentally hurt herself. People became so concerned for Britney that they called the cops to perform a welfare check. Swipe (below) to the second slide see the injuries:
The videos were so unsettling! But what did her ex-husband think about it all? His reaction is actually pretty shocking!
When Nick Viall asked about the situation on a new episode of The Viall Files on Wednesday, Sam defended Britney! He even called her “a genius artist” and compared her to Michael Jackson! The Traitors star said:
“I’m not someone that’s, ‘Let me, let me take your phone from you and not allow you to do anything and restrict you from posting your own content.’ And especially if you’re an artist, I think, you know, we’re talking about she’s a genius artist. What’s in her head is gold, and it’s what made her who she is.”
People also have to remember that Britney was under a strict conservatorship for 13 years of her life, up until 2021. All that time her estranged father, Jamie Spears, had control over her personal, financial, and medical decisions. Her ability to express herself was stifled for so long, now that she’s free, Sam would not dare to stop her from posting content she loves:
“So when you take away the ability to, you know, make art, express yourself, I’m not gonna be the one that’s gonna stop anybody from posting whatever they want, especially if dance is the way you express yourself.”
Fans pretty universally feel the same way, glad to see Britney letting her creativity fly online in the way she wants to… But they just want her to be safe and happy while doing so! Those videos where she’s injured were very concerning!
And when it comes to how the conservatorship was handled, Sam pointed out that he “didn’t agree” with anything Jamie did. That said, he tried to be “respectful” to him no matter his personal feelings:
“I will always have my respect for everybody, and I will always stay respectful, and I always try to understand what really happens and why and how I could help in both sides and how I could just protect someone as well. So my relationship [with Jamie] was always respectful, even though I didn’t agree with some of the stuff — or anything really.”
