He speaks!
On Monday, Sam Smith took to Twitter to apologize to Dustin Lance Black after the Stay With Me singer thought he was the first openly gay man to win an Oscar during his acceptance speech — except he did NOT address the awkward bit where the Milk screenwriter SLAMMED the British cutie for texting his fianc├â┬⌐ Tom Daley.

Oh man! He posted:
Apologies for the mix up @DLanceBlack I’ll be sure to check out your films now x Belated Congrats on the Oscar x

Awkward! To his defense, the Grammy winner noted during his speech:
“I read an article a few months ago by Sir Ian McKellen, and he said no openly gay man had won an Oscar. And if this is the case, even it isn’t the case, I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community all around the world….”
At least he was upfront that he didn’t have all the facts. Still, Dustin has since added:
THE POINT: knowing our LGBTQ history is important. We stand on the shoulders of countless brave men and women who paved the way for us.

Well that’s fair.

As much as we appreciate Sam’s attempt to take the high road after this inneresting call out, we want to get more details about his and the Olympic diver’s text sessions. We can’t be the only ones, right??
However, we bet those will be long over now that the 41-year-old shaded the Writing’s On The Wall artist over his behavior. Tsk, tsk.
We guess we’ll just have to wait and see if more drama comes out of this situation. Stay tuned!
