Just like pop is a huge genre, so is R&B. And just as Rhye is exploring and exploding that genre so masterfully, so is Sama Dams. Although, some people call the Portland trio “knotty pop”.
Alternative R&B is more what our ear hears. Or some might same super moody pop.
