Is Scooter Braun ready to throw Scott Borchetta under the bus just to keep his reputation??
Because apparently, behind closed doors, the celeb manager isn’t too thrilled with how this whole Taylor Swift–American Music Awards drama is playing out in no thanks to his new partner.
As we all heard back at the very end of June, Braun purchased Big Machine Label Group, and along with it, Swift’s masters of her old catalog.
But just last week, the 29-year-old pop star called out Scooter and Scott for barring her from performing any of her old hits live at the upcoming AMAs. This, despite the fact she’s to be honored with Artist of the Decade.

Now, an insider is telling E! News how small of a role he has in this whole debacle:
“Scooter is frustrated because his name is being dragged in the mud. He doesn’t run Big Machine or have operational control of company. He hasn’t taken part in these negotiations.”
Sounds like this is something he should have overseen after the initial fallout… especially if he thinks Borchetta is to blame for his bad reputation!
The source continued:
“This fight with Taylor is not something Scooter agrees with.”
The 38-year-old shared he’s been trying to get in touch with Swift, but she hasn’t returned any of his calls yet.
Can you blame her??
After opening up her heart to fans in a candid Tumblr post, Tay received essentially a slap in the face as a response from Big Machine.
Basically calling her a liar, they wrote:
“As Taylor Swift’s partner for over a decade, we were shocked to see her Tumblr statements yesterday based on false information. At no point did we say Taylor could not perform on the AMAs or block her Netflix special. In fact, we do not have the right to keep her from performing live anywhere. Since Taylor’s decision to leave Big Machine last fall, we have continued to honor all of her requests to license her catalog to third parties as she promotes her current record in which we do not financially participate.”
They continued by deflecting, instead trying to put attention on “millions of dollars” she supposedly owes the company:
“The truth is, Taylor has admitted to contractually owing millions of dollars and multiple assets to our company, which is responsible for 120 hardworking employees who helped build her career. We have worked diligently to have a conversation about these matters with Taylor and her team to productively move forward. We started to see progress over the past two weeks and were optimistic as recently as yesterday that this may get resolved. However, despite our persistent efforts to find a private and mutually satisfactory solution, Taylor made a unilateral decision last night to enlist her fanbase in a calculated manner that greatly affects the safety of our employees and their families.”
Finishing up, the statement read:
“Taylor, the narrative you have created does not exist. All we ask is to have a direct and honest conversation. When that happens, you will see there is nothing but respect, kindness and support waiting for you on the other side. To date, not one of the invitations to speak with us and work through this has been accepted. Rumors fester in the absence of communication. Let’s not have that continue here. We share the collective goal of giving your fans the entertainment they both want and deserve.”
Oh, there’s Bad Blood alright!
But taking to a Taylor fan group chat on Twitter just a few days earlier, Scooter really pressed he’s not the one to blame in this controversy:
“Are u ready for this? If she called me she would know I’m completely open to selling her the catalogue.”
He’s apparently just waiting to hear back from her team:
“I have tried. No one is calling back. If they do they will see the narrative is wrong. No monster here. That is why we have so many mutual friends. This needs some communication and it’s fixed.”
And attempted to get Swifties to rise to action:
“I wish you guys well. I hope you push the message of communication. No one wins in drama. I will keep trying to build the bridge. would appreciate your help. I believe no one is a bad person but hurt people hurt people. I want to try and fix the hurt. Take care.”
We’ll believe it when we see it, y’all!!
