Watch Shaboozey Totally Side Eye Megan Moroney For Saying The Carter Family ‘Invented Country Music’ At The AMAs!

Shaboozey does NOT cosign what Megan Moroney has to say about country music!

The American Music Awards were held on Monday night at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, where the two singers got up on stage to present the award for Favorite Country Duo or Group. But before they revealed the winners, the Bar Song (Tipsy) singer shot his co-presenter daggers after she made a comment about the country genre’s origin.

Speaking about the very first AMA show all the way back in 1974, Shaboozey read off the teleprompter:

“Country music has been an important part of AMA history. The very first year of this show, the award for favorite male country artist went to the great Charlie Pride.”

Megan added:

“That same year, favorite female artist went to Lynn Anderson, and this award [favorite country duo or group] went to the Carter Family, who basically invented country music.”

It was at that moment the 30-year-old side-eyed Megan HARD before laughing and revealing the award went to Dan + Shay. Watch the viral moment (below):

AWKWARDDD!

According to the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Carter Family, which included P. Carter, Sara Carter, and Maybelle Carter, were dubbed “The First Family of Country Music.” They were among the first stars to record commercial country music, but the genre’s origins and the Carter Family’s inspiration dates much further back to lesser known Black artists such as Lesley Riddle and Duford Black. According to Page Six, Riddle met the Carter Family in 1928 and composed many of their hit songs.

Thoughts on Shaboozey’s reaction, Perezcious readers??
