A star always knows where the cameras are! This was proven by a telegenic seagull who found internet fame this week thanks to some persistent perching in front of a London traffic camera.
The beautiful bird made its Twitter debut on Monday after its photo was posted to TfL Traffic News, an account that posts London traffic updates.
According to its website, Transport for London (TFL) is “a local government organization responsible for most aspects of London’s transport system.” It’s also evidently responsible for putting camera-friendly birds on the proverbial map.

Showing the seagull looking regal AF on Brunswick Road, the account tweeted:

Werk, gull. Werk.
People were amused. But, as always the case with internet phenomenons, they quickly flocked to the next trending topic.
Until the next day, when the bird once again found its way to the traffic camera. The account shared the second photo early Tuesday morning, writing:

Amusing, again. But not fame-worthy. Not yet.
Persistence, as most stars know, is the key to success. It’s like what Lady GaGa told press after winning her Oscar earlier this year:
“If you are at home and you’re sitting on your couch and you are watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work. I have worked hard for a long time and it’s not about, you know, winning, but what it’s about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. If there’s a discipline for passion, and it’s not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or you’re beaten up. It’s about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going.”
The seagull must have heard this message — perhaps it was perched somewhere in Hollywood at the time, cooing at her wise words — because it didn’t give up after two measly attempts at internet fame.
Like GaGa, the seagull got back on its claws and returned to the traffic spot for a third time — which, as fate would have it, was the charm. Later on Tuesday, the TfL Traffic account shared an 11-second video of the bird, joking that it was a local traffic reporter:

This time, the world didn’t look away.
The tweet garnered over 20,000 retweets and 61,000 likes. Not to mention, plenty of hilarious commentary from journalists and non-journalists alike.
