Taylor Frankie Paul and her boyfriend Dakota Mortensen are on a break — possibly for good!
Rumors The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives couple had broken up started circulating over the weekend. Taylor posted a photo to Instagram of herself snuggling with their son Ever — but no Dakota in sight. Cute and totally harmless, right? However, the caption of the adorable picture is what caught fans’ attention most. She wrote:
“Here’s to a new chapter of my life, I think I’ll be most challenging, yet most rewarding.”
“New chapter” in her life? As in without Dakota as her boyfriend?!

Naturally, that cryptic post got everyone speculating they’d gone their separate ways. And Taylor only fueled the rumors on Sunday when she posted a video on TikTok of her crying while wearing stained sweats. The reality star added in the caption:
“Not me slowly morphing into 2022 me.”

As fans know, 2022 was a chaotic year for Taylor due to her infamous soft-swinging scandal. It blew up not only the Mormon MomTok community — but notably her marriage to Tate Paul! So it sounds like the social media personality is going through it again, just like she did two years ago! When she was going through a divorce!
Need more evidence? Several of Taylor’s co-stars left supportive comments, including Mayci Neeley, who said:
“This new chapter will be better than ever! Lean on us, we got you baby.”
Mikayla Matthews chimed in to add:
“Always here for you bb”
Yeah… It’s definitely giving breakup vibes.
Well now we have confirmation. Us Weekly confirmed on Monday that Taylor and Dakota have hit pause on their relationship. What happened? It sounds like someone did not like the edit he got on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives!
In an interview with the outlet, conducted before the split speculation began, the TikTok star shared that the pair hit a rough patch in their romance after Dakota watched the series. Yikes. Her biggest fear came true. She said:
“I would say we’re working on things, and I actually have no idea where it goes with us from here. We are not fully together, but not fully done. I don’t know what the future holds with him and I.”
Of course, Taylor is “heartbroken” over the situation, adding:
“It’s just a lot. I’m trying to cope.”
So sad…
However, we can’t say we’re completely shocked about this outcome. Viewers saw Taylor and Dakota did not have a healthy relationship on the show. In addition to her domestic violence arrest, she had a lot of trouble trusting Dakota after he lied about his past with other women when they started dating. Those trust issues caused a lot of arguments between them during her pregnancy. But all seemed to be well between them earlier this month…
We guess that didn’t last? Or it was all for the cameras?
In any case, they’re not together now, apparently all because Dakota was not thrilled about how he was portrayed on the show. Hmm. Taylor explained to the outlet:
“He has a really good soft side, and I feel like that wasn’t shown on the show. He’s like, ‘I look like this ass to you while you’re pregnant, when that’s just not the case of how I treated you the whole time. Yes, I did defend myself in [some] cases, but that’s not how I am to you. I look like this awful person when I’m not.’”
Perhaps Dakota should not have acted like an “ass” on the show, and he wouldn’t have come across that way! It’s also not like Taylor edited the series, so why break up with her like it’s her fault?! Unless you are pulling a move like Zac Affleck‘s in-laws and blaming her for how you behaved and thus were portrayed on the show — which is a big ICK! And frankly, if that is the case, while it’s painful for Taylor right now, she is probably dodging a bullet here in the long run. Granted, we do not know how long this pause will last. They could get back together next week for all we know…
