Meghan Markle likely missed out on the traditional bridal experience of turning to your friends for wedding planning advice, so Serena Williams made sure she went all out for another major milestone!
For the Duchess of Sussex’s luxe NYC baby shower at the Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side, back in February, the tennis star made everything “perfect” for her bestie’s big day!

In an interview with The Business of Fashion, the 37-year-old opened up about planning the intimate event:
“Planning something like that takes a lot of effort. I’m a perfectionist, so I’m like, ‘Let’s make it perfect.'”
If we were prepping for the arrival of a royal baby, we’d make sure everything was perfect, too!!
At the shower, the ladies in attendance put together floral arrangements which were later donated to Repeat Roses, attendee Gayle King spilled on CBS This Morning:
“She’s a very private person. I think she should decide what she wants to say about this. But I hope she won’t mind me sharing this because I’ve never seen anything like this at a baby shower. They had flower arranging. They brought in somebody to explain how to arrange flowers. We all each made an individual vase. I thought that was a very sweet thing. I mean it just speaks to who she is. She’s very kind. She’s very generous, and a really, really sweet person.”

But the baby soiree isn’t the only thing Miz Williams has perfected for her pal. She also shared to BoF that after the former Suits actress wore the affordable “boss blazer” from her Serena clothing line in October, it (obviously) became a best seller:
“It’s so fun because people are like, ‘Oh my God. Like wow, the quality is crazy.’ Listen, if we’re giving our stuff to Meghan, it has to be the highest quality that we can get. So, that’s what I tell our team internally: ‘We have to make sure it’s super high quality that, you know, is fit for a royal princess!'”
That’s the Markle sparkle in full effect, for sure!!
She capitalized on the Duchess’ fashion statement by proudly sharing photos of the momma-to-be on her Instagram:
We’re SO glad she has true friends like Serena and her other longtime girlfriends in her corner!! But where’s Priyanka Chopra in all of this…
