Megan Huntsman’s friends and family all assumed she was just gaining and losing weight. But no one suspected she was pregnant.
A shocking discovery was made in the 39-year-old mother’s garage this week, though: the bodies of seven babies, hidden in boxes.
Police believe Megan was carrying the babies to term and then secretly giving birth in her home.
Huntsman allegedly confessed to cops that she killed all seven of her newborns by either strangling or suffocating them.
Absolutely horrible.
The first baby was found by Huntsman’s estranged husband, Darren West, who had been in prison on drug-relatred charges. Police do not believe he had any prior knowledge of his wife’s gruesome crime.
Authorities later uncovered the remaining six babies in their garage. Megan has been charged with six counts of murder, we assume since only six of the seven are believed to have been born alive.
Officials will now test these young victims to determine the cause of death and if they are indeed the children of Megan Huntsman and Darren West.
Megan and Darren have three older daughters together who lived in the house as well. Neighbors are stunned by this news but say Megan was not mentally stable. One member of the community explained:
“She was not in good health. We were worried about the children who lived there with her.├óΓé¼┬¥
Such a tragedy and senseless loss of so many young lives.
