The music world has sadly lost one of its greats.
Ravi Shankar, the Indian sitar maestro who gained worldwide fame for his collaborations with The Beatles, as well as being the father of Norah Jones, passed away last week after he was admitted to Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego and failed to fully recover from surgery.
He was 92.
His wife, Sukanya, and his other daughter, Anoushka, said in a statement:

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the surgeons and doctors taking care of him, his body was not able to withstand the strain of the surgery. We were at his side when he passed away. Although it is a time for sorrow and sadness, it is also a time for all of us to give thanks and to be grateful that we were able to have him as a part of our lives. He will live forever in our hearts and in his music.”

We couldn’t agree more.
Obviously, this is a devastating loss for his friends, family, loved ones and fans alike, but we feel so honored to know that his legacy will continue to live on in all of the incredible music he has left behind for us all.
May he R.I.P.
