This smartphone app is WAY better than Doodle Jump!
In Spokane, Washington, a baby was saved by some amazing technology and a man who just so happened to have decided to download the ah-mazing smartphone app!
When a one-month-old baby named Nolan in Spoke Falls started to turn blue at a store, a store clerk hurried up to call 911 before attempting CPR on the little one.
Here’s what the store clerk and former lifeguard Lesley Reckord said:
“When you hear that you just pick up the phone and call 911, so I did that and I saw her and she was just saying, ‘He’s not breathing, he’s not breathing.’├óΓé¼┬¥
But it was tire technician Jeff Olson, who had downloaded an app called Pulse Point, who ended up being the hero on that day!
Here’s how he explained it when his app went off:
├óΓé¼┼ôIt sounded like an Amber Alert, you know how they come out, and so I looked at it and it said CPR needed and it gave the address….I asked the lady standing outside, ‘Do you have a medical emergency here?’ And she said it’s an infant and he’s blue. I just kind of, you know, just suck up a little bit…I don’t think I’ve ever done CPR on an infant before or even rescue breathing and when I got done I shook for about ten minutes ya know.├óΓé¼┬¥
Olson had been a former EMT so he definitely knew how to save the baby’s life — which was a good thing since paramedics were still a few minutes away!
And every second counts when you’re trying to save a baby’s life! Which he totally did!
Here’s what the store clerk Lesley Reckord said:
“This guy just came out of nowhere and just scooped the baby up and really knew what he was doing which was such a blessing to all of us. ”
Fire department officials were adamant that the phone app and the former EMT were both equally responsible for saving the baby’s life.
Here’s what Spokane Fire Departmen assistant fire chef Brian Schaeffer said:
├óΓé¼┼ôThe real reason we are so invested in this technology is that you can be a lifesaver. This is one of the only apps that you can download if you know CPR, you can actually save somebody’s life.├óΓé¼┬¥
And save somebody’s life they totally did as one-month-old Nolan is a totally healthy baby these days!
Way to go technology and people! The two of them together make a great team!
