The costumes that Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart wear in Snow White and the Huntsman are absolutely fierce!
In the movie, one of the dresses that Charlize’s Evil Queen wears was made by a team of 50 people and created with hundreds of hand-cut rooster feathers and thousands of iridescent dung beetle shells from Thailand.
According to costume designer Colleen Atwood, the shells were brittle, but actually, quite dangerous! She explains:

“They├óΓé¼Γäóre incredibly sharp, so I had to be careful about how I used them. If you hit them, you can hurt yourself. They├óΓé¼Γäóre quite treacherous, which really suited the character.”

A character, in which Charlize describes as a bit of a masochist. She says:

“Every costume had a feeling of not quite what it seems. In a way, these dresses were like torture devices for Ravenna. I love that because I feel like Ravenna was, in a way, more torturous toward herself than to the people she was killing.”

And now, many of the costumes from the film, including the infamous beetle dress (above), can be viewed in a new pop-up gallery in L.A.
Should be an interesting display of fashion!
