Sofía Vergara is digging back into her divorce from Joe Manganiello — adding MORE to the whole kids debate between them!
Last summer, the former couple shocked fans by announcing their divorce after seven years of marriage. After some sorting out of who gets to keep what, the two finalized things earlier this year. And shortly after, the Modern Family actress revealed in an interview with El País that she and Joe separated because they couldn’t get on the same page about having kids:
“Well, I’m newly divorced from my second husband, who I was with for 10 years. My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
However, Joe responded to her claim just last month, telling Men’s Journal they initially DID try to start a family together, but things didn’t work out:
“And we had a huge conversation right out of the gate during the first month we dated. I said, ‘If you’re done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me, and I’ll know what this is, and that’s okay.’ But that wasn’t the case with her. And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t.”
As we know, Sofía already has a son… 32-year-old Manolo from a previous relationship. It always made sense she didn’t want to do it again, and that’s just what she’s now said was the big isse.
But Joe pretty much called her a liar, claiming the two just “grew apart,” and said her accusation affected how people look at him:
“To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone’? That’s never who I was.”
Yikes!
But now it’s Sofía’s turn to speak again!
While chatting with Variety in an interview published on Wednesday, the Griselda star called into question whether her ex really even refuted her claims:
“At the end of the day, you never even know if that’s what he said for real. I’ve read a lot of things that I’ve said that I’m like, ‘Huh?’”
Uhhh, we hate to break it to her, but it seems pretty clear that it WAS Joe who said those things! She added she wouldn’t be find out from the source though:
“What am I gonna do, call him? I don’t know if he even said that.”
OUCH! We guess they aren’t on speaking terms anymore… Well, we guess she’s just happy to let bygones be bygones… Unless he speaks out again!
