Taylor Swift is done being silent.
As you’re likely aware, the Lover songstress made the bold decision to directly call out Donald Trump via Twitter following his own controversial tweet calling rioters and protestors “thugs.”

In previous years, Tay had shied away from politics, but has become increasingly vocal about her views as of late, and many fans have embraced her for it. A source shared with Us Weekly more about the reasoning behind her powerful message:
“Taylor felt it was necessary to speak up against Trump and express her morals and values. She realizes how powerful her voice is and wanted to use it for the greater good. She wanted to speak out against inequalities in the world and support minorities, while also showing how anti-Trump she is.”
While some have criticized the 30-year-old, she has largely seen support following her tweet. ICYMI, here’s what Swift had to say:
“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump”
In less than five hours after posting, the message become her most-liked tweet of all time with over one million likes, and as of writing is nearing two million. Ultimately, the Grammy Award winner believes Trump is “sexist and anti-women’s rights,” which are “two issues she is also passionate about,” according to the insider.
As you’ll recall, Swift’s political stance was a major focus of her documentary Miss Americana. In one scene, she argues with her father and members of her team about a statement she later made against Marsha Blackburn.
While her dad and others opposed her choice, it’s something she moved forward with regardless. She later told Variety (below) about the heated moment:
“This was a situation where, from a humanity perspective, and from what my moral compass was telling me I needed to do, I knew I was right, and I really didn’t care about repercussions. My dad is terrified of threats against my safety and my life, and he has to see how many stalkers we deal with on a daily basis, and know that this is his kid. It’s where he comes from.”
