John Travolta isn’t the only star who (may or may not have) confused Taylor Swift with her drag queen dopplegänger the night of the VMAs!
In a new interview with NewNowNext, RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Jade Jolie opened up more about the unforgettable experience of dressing in Tay-themed drag for the MTV awards show, where she was apparently mistaken for the star more than once.
As we reported, the internet collectively LOL-ed when Travolta seemingly went to hand the Video of the Year award to Jade thinking she was Taylor after the 29-year-old songstress won the Moon Man for You Need to Calm Down. The Grease star later denied he mixed the two up, claiming in a radio interview he was simply looking for the musician and viewers misinterpreted his glimpse at Jade on stage.

Whether or not the actor’s story is true (we have our doubts), it appears another celeb made the mistake later in the night: Swift’s dear friend, Gigi Hadid!
The drag queen dished:
“At the after-party Gigi Hadid kept thinking I was Taylor—they’re really good friends. The drunker we got, I guess the more Taylor I became for everyone!”
Everyone?? Even Joe Alwyn!? (Tay’s BF wasn’t at the VMAs, for the record, though we can’t help but wonder if he’d also confuse the two…)
As for Travolta’s maybe-mix-up, Jade is very flattered by the moment — whether or not it actually happened. She said:
“It was a very sweet and flattering mistake, and I like to think I did my job right and looked just like Taylor.”

According to the 32-year-old, Tay thought the Travolta moment “was so funny,” revealing:
“After everything was said and done I kinda giggled about it and people were posting it online. We told Taylor, and she was tickled and thought it was so funny. She joked and was like, ‘You totally should have went for it!'”
Interestingly enough, Travolta had the same thoughts. He said of the incident in his interview with Dallas’ Hot 93.3:
“Sometimes I fantasize, what if I had given it to [Jolie]? That would have been awesome. I should have just gone all the way with it.”
