Joe Alwyn 'Has Been A Rock' For Taylor Swift Through Her 'Tough Year'

Taylor Swift‘s Lover has got her back!

Joe Alwyn and Tay have been going strong since May 2017, and despite their busy schedules, holiday plans, and sometimes living in different countries, they are still able to make time for each other.

Total #CoupleGoals.

A source revealed to Us Weekly they even spent the holiday together:

“Taylor and Joe did spend Thanksgiving together in London. They are still going very strong.”

So glad to hear!!

As you’re likely aware, Miz Swift has had quite the year. From her ongoing drama with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta, to the release of her seventh studio album, and the forthcoming premiere of Cats, that is a lot on her plate!

Luckily, her man has had her back; the insider says:

“Taylor has had a tough year and Joe has been a rock for her.”

The couple tends to keep things on the DL compared to other celeb duos, and we can totally respect their choice — even if we want to see more of them. In an interview earlier this year, Joe defended his “strangely private” romance with Tay, and detailed how his life has changed (“maybe bits and pieces at a time — it’s been a readjustment”) since they began dating:

“I don’t think [it’s more private] than anyone else. I don’t think anyone you meet on the streets would just spill their guts out to you, therefore why should I? And then that is defined as being ‘strangely private’. Fine. But I don’t think it is. I think it’s normal.”

It’s a fair point, but at the same time — you went into film acting as a profession, fella! You had to know that’s part of the gig, even if your GF isn’t the biggest pop star in the world!

Something which has been increasingly less private over the past year is Tay’s political views, which she had previously been criticized for not expressing during the 2016 election. Speaking with People, an insider revealed how the Boy Erased star has been supportive on that front this year as well:

“Joe’s personality is great for Taylor. He is very calm and always very supportive [about her politics]. He’s sympathetic and understanding and supports her speaking out about things that she doesn’t agree with.”

The source also offered up a bit of insight into what goes on behind closed doors between the two:

“There’s something refreshing and different about their relationship. Joe makes Taylor very happy, and it’s hard to picture her not spending the rest of her life with him. Her family loves him. He seems older than he is and is a fantastic guy. Joe loves acting but doesn’t want to be a celebrity. They both agree that for their relationship to keep working, they want to keep things more quiet. She’s the happiest she’s ever been.”
