Showtime announced the Emmy nominated dramedy WILL get a fourth season after all — but with a catch!
The thirty-minute show will be extended to a full hour, only be FOUR episodes long and the fourth season will be the series’ LAST!
Showtime Entertainment president David Nevins told reporters yesterday at the network’s TCA panel that because the show is on a “premium network” (and not one of those tacky free ones) they owe it to their subscribers to give the series a proper ending. Dave said:
“From its inception, the show has been unique, and we’ve found a creative way to bring conclusion to Cathy’s [Laura Linney] story. It’s very important with a premium network that shows be able to plan their end and do it the right way. We have a contract with our audience.”
It’s a shame those other networks let those pesky “ratings” get in the way of a show’s conclusion!
We all know it’s sad to hear about shows coming to an end — but there is always a silver lining!
Now that Showtime has announced The Big C aaaand Weeds are coming to an end the fancy channel has room for new high-budget comedies for us to fall in lurve with!
