The world may know The Housemaid author as Freida McFadden, but that is not her real name! In fact, she’s apparently been living a secret double life all this time — just like Hannah Montana! Ha!
Now, though, she’s finally ready to rip off the wig and reveal her true identity!

According to USA Today on Wednesday, Freida has been using a pseudonym, wig, and glasses since she began writing and publishing novels in 2013. But with the success of The Housemaid movie, which stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, the writer felt like “it’s time” to introduce her real self to everyone:
“I’m at a point in my career when I’m tired of this being a secret. I’m tired of people debating if I’m a real person or if I’m three men. I am a real person and I have a real identity and I don’t have anything to hide.”
So who is she? Freida is actually Sara Cohen, a doctor who treats brain disorders! Holy s**t, was not expecting that!
The physician explained she really does wear glasses and the hair is a wig — but only because she has “no idea how to style my hair.” LOLz! Relatable!
Freida went on to explain that she planned to use the fake name until she was ready to step back from her medicine because she did not want her writing career to get in the way of her hospital job. And in late 2023, she stopped working full-time. While everyone else is finding out her identity now, her co-workers knew about her secret all along! Freida said they found out, but they were “really nice about it” and kept it a secret!
