The September Issue is off to a good start!
R.J. Cutler‘s documentary about fashion legend Anna Wintour opened with a bang, grossing $240,078 at the U.S. box office and coming in as the fifth highest opening for a documentary after IMAX’s Across The Sea Of Time, Davis Guggenheim’s An Inconvenient Truth, Michael Moore’s Sicko, and Paul Provenza’s The Aristocrats.
And, considering the doc is only showing in New York right now, that’s truly a remarkable ranking! In fact, Issue opened with the second best per-theater-average of all 2009 releases.
Congrats!!
We can’t wait till it opens in L.A. on September 11!!
