This is the LEAST he could do after such a horrible accident!
Race car driver Tony Stewart was competing at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park on Saturday night, when there was a little accident.
His car bumped Kevin Ward Jr.’s, but Ward was okay… until he got out of his car to confront Stewart.
By that time, Stewart was making his way back around the track, and his car HIT Ward, sending him flying, and resulting in his death!
So tragic!!!
Stewart — who is known for being a hothead throughout his career — pulled out of his NASCAR race at Watkins Glen on Sunday as a result.
His statement was very simple, saying:
“There aren├óΓé¼Γäót words to describe the sadness I feel about the accident that took the life of Kevin Ward Jr. It├óΓé¼Γäós a very emotional time for all involved, and it is the reason I├óΓé¼Γäóve decided not to participate in today├óΓé¼Γäós race at WGI. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragedy.├óΓé¼┬¥
NASCAR released their own statement, essentially saying they support Tony’s choice.
The police were initially brought in to see if there were any charges to make, but Sheriff Philip Povero said that none are pending at this time.
You can see the video of the accident (below), but be warned because it is very graphic.
Our thoughts and prayer’s are with Ward’s friends and family, and Tony’s team as well, as everyone sorts through this sudden and tragic situation.
