Critics Are LOVING 'Toy Story 4' -- Read The Spoiler-Free Review Round Up, Partner!

Toy Story 4 review round up

Toy Story 4 has got a friend in critics everywhere!
The first three Toy Story films were widely considered to be the most perfect trilogy in the history of cinema, with 2010’s Toy Story 3 providing a seemingly perfect ending to Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), and co.’s story.
That said, fans were a bit nervous when Pixar announced there would be a Toy Story 4, which hit theaters next weekend.
But you can rest easy, partner. The reviews are in, and they’re glowing like Buzz Lightyear’s space suit: the film is currently 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes!

According to the reviews, the fourth installation of the franchise had critics falling in love all over again. Many were impressed with TS4’s bold choice to break out of the cozy settings in previous films and explore some “deeper and more artistic” territory. Others applauded the film’s new characters — particularly Forky (voiced by Tony Hale), whose existential journey hit home for many.
Ch-ch-check out our (spoiler free!) review round-up of Toy Story 4 (below) and catch the film in theaters June 20!

Todd McCarthy, Hollywood Reporter: “It’s been nearly a decade since Toy Story 3 put a satisfying capper on what seemed likely to remain a trilogy, but the same level of wit, imagination and, yes, magic has been summoned to create yet another fully worthy sibling.”
Brian Lowry, CNN: “Toy Story 4 delivers a cinematic grand slam, a nine-years-later sequel that’s wholly equal to the high expectations raised by the terrific trio that it follows.”
Oliver Jones, Observer: “It bravely explores the essence of what it is that makes each of us matter beyond the functions we serve as workers or as members of a family.”
David Sims, The Atlantic: “If I had to get another Toy Story, this is about as strange and beguiling an entry as I could have hoped for.”
Bilge Ebiri, Vulture: “We’re all Forkys at heart, the film seems to be saying. And by breaking out of the cozy boundaries of the Toy Story films, it lights out for new, uncertain territory.”
Richard Roeper, Chicago-Sun Times: “If this movie doesn’t touch your heart, you’d have to be as lifeless as the toys pretend to be when humans are in the vicinity.”
Alonso Duralde, The Wrap: “Pixar could easily retire this series with a clean sweep of films that have been lovely to look at and moving and funny to watch. But if they can maintain this level of wonderful, keep ‘em coming.”
Peter Debruge, Variety: “Toy Story ushered in the era of computer-animated cartoon features, and the fourth movie wraps up the saga beautifully. At least, for now.”
