As NFL fans and Perezcious readers alike know by now, Taylor Swift opted out of attending her boyfriend’s football game over the weekend. Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Atlanta Falcons for their first away game of the season. And though he traveled all over Europe and Asia to see her, she chose not to take the midnight train to Georgia after her girls night out with Gigi Hadid.
But she definitely could have made it. We mean, it was an evening game. She had plenty of time. We don’t know of anything she was so busy with that she couldn’t hop on a plane to ATL to support her man.
So what if… it was his decision??

OK, hear us out. We’re seeing a LOT of speculation right now among both fans AND football commentators that there’s something going on between Trav and QB Patrick Mahomes. They were magic together the past couple years, with Travis getting inexplicably open — and Patty always keeping an eye on his boy when every other receiver seemed blocked. So together they’d always get a few fantastic passes every game. They made each other look better. It was talked about as one of the great quarterback/receiver relationships.
Compare that to the last three games, it looks like Mahomes doesn’t even know Kelce is an eligible receiver! It’s so obvious, Pat was even asked about it by sports reporters after the game! And his explanation was that the other teams are just covering Trav too hard because they’re scared of what he’ll do:
“We’re calling a lot of plays for Travis and it’s like 2 or 3 people are going to him. He understands, I think that’s the great thing about him. He wants to make an impact in the game, but he wants to win at the end of the day. And I’m gonna try to to my best to keep feeding him the ball whenever he’s open. But I mean, I think the more Rashee makes plays, the more we’re able to run the football, the more we get Worthy involved, that’s gonna open Travis up more.”

But Chiefs fans are NOT convinced. Why? They keep seeing Trav open — and the only one not seeing it is Pat! And that’s led to some speculation…
“Well it seems odd that Pat has always been able to get the ball to Travis in the past. Hard to believe he just can’t seem to manage it now.”
“Pats saying 2 or 3 guys on Travis we are seeing Travis wide open. Are we seeing a different 87 on the field than the one Pat is seeing? What he is saying and what we are seeing is not matching up”
“Patrick the whole world has seen him wide open so many times this season come on now”
“I counted 5 times (and I wasn’t even counting the whole game), that Travis was wide open and Mahomes didn’t even look in his direction. I’m talking wide, wide open. One of those wide opens would’ve been an easy score. There’s something going on with those two.”
“Pat’s words just don’t seem genuine to me. My take! My Chiefs season ticket holder opinion!”
“Nonsense. The greatest players in the game have had 2-3 players on them and still put up HOF numbers. Difference? Their QB threw the ball to them. Something deeper going on. I know Andy can see it during film sessions.”
“Anyone got answers for why Mahomes never looks Kelce’s way this year? They beefin’?”
OK, so what if the fans are right? What if there really is beef between 87 and 15 right now? We know there was some awkwardness with some political differences. And politics is way more than a game these days — it’s about fundamental beliefs, and it breaks up families every day. Or heck, it could be something entirely different. But just… what if there is something going on? What if Mahomes is intentionally ignoring his former go-to guy? If so, Trav would surely know about it. And he’d know watching his game was going to be a big disappointment.

OK, so what if Travis told Taylor not to bother spending the jet fuel to come to Atlanta to watch him get ignored all night? Maybe he knew it wasn’t going to be a fun time! It clearly wasn’t for him, as he looked down in the dumps all night.
