U2 suffered a terrible loss on Wednesday.
Dennis Sheehan, the band’s tour manager of an astounding 32 years, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning, shortly after their first show at Los Angeles’ Forum.

Though the band soldiered on and played their second show Wednesday night, they did so in mourning.
Bono took a moment near the beginning of the concert to talk to audience about their loss. He said:
“Last night we lost a member of our family. Dennis Sheehan … loved, as we all do, the city of Los Angeles … He came to this city as a young man in the ’70s, working for Led Zeppelin. He always thought that maybe we could be the next Led Zeppelin, which of course is impossible.”
U2 closed the show with their classic 40, which always got the audience singing, “How long to sing this song” as the band walked off.
Bono told the audience about a night in 1983 when no one sang along — until they heard Sheehan singing at the top of his lungs. Bono remembered:
“He got the whole crowd to sing along.”
Then, before they began, Bono declared:
“We dedicate this song … In fact, we dedicate this night … In fact, we dedicate the whole tour to the memory of Dennis Sheehan.”
During the song, video screens played clips of Sheehan.
No cause of death has been disclosed. Sheehan was 69 years old.
So sad.
