OMG. Wendy William‘s ex-husband Kevin Hunter just filed a MASSIVE new lawsuit — on her behalf!
In court docs filed on Tuesday and obtained by People, Kevin has sued everyone involved in his ex’s strict guardianship — a total of 48 defendants – who he believes have violated her constitutional rights. And he wants a jury trial! Among those being sued are Wendy’s legal guardian Sabrina Morrissey, Judge Lisa Sokoloff, who is presiding over the guardianship, Wells Fargo, her assisted living facility Coterie, and several lawyers. The complaint states:
“Guardianship is a civil death. In New York, more than 28,000 adults, which includes [Williams], are being abused, neglected, and defrauded under the care of court-appointed guardians.”

Kevin named himself as a co-plaintiff in the lawsuit and seeks to become Wendy’s “next friend,” or someone who can legally act “on behalf of an individual unable to assert their own rights and when no guardian is acting in their best interests,” per the complaint. But while Kevin has struck up this legal action on Wendy’s behalf, the attorney LaShawn Thomas who filed the suit told People that the former talk show host is “not legally aware of all of the evidence that supports our claims that she should not be forced to suffer from this guardianship.” The statement continued:
“I plan on laying out sufficient evidence to support our claims and ensure that her rights are vindicated and she is made whole financially.”
Interestingly, the lawsuit uses Wendy’s married named “Ms. Hunter” despite their divorce, per several outlets.

Main Claim
While many outlets have reported the lawsuit seeks to end the guardianship, People reported that the filing is NOT seeking to stop the guardianship. Kevin is instead requesting a “new impartial guardian,” the unsealing of Wendy’s case files, her release from “involuntary confinement,” a full forensic accounting, oh, and just a small sum of…
$250 MILLION!
That’s for relief for financial losses, reputational damage and harm, emotional distress, legal expenses, and deprivation of liberty. Whoa! That’s a lot of money!
In the filing, Kevin alleged that his ex “has been the victim of unrestrained abuse, maltreatment, and fiscal malfeasance” in her guardianship since it began in 2022, going so far as to say it was established in what he claims was “a secret proceeding” where she wasn’t given the chance to obtain “adequate legal representation.” He claims his ex was “coerced” into the guardianship “under immense financial duress and emotional strain.” Kevin noted that Wendy had spiraled after their 2020 split, which came as he had already started a family with another woman, leaving her to “navigate complex financial and medical matters without Mr. Hunter’s experienced oversight.”
At the time, the decision to enter into a guardianship was attributed to her dementia diagnosis — though she had denied reports that she is cognitively impaired.
The lawsuit also claims Wendy “was not afforded an independent medical evaluation” before being placed in the guardianship and has been “subjected to overmedication and undue restrictions.”
Assisted Living Facility Scandal
Horrifyingly, when the 60-year-old was moved into the assisted living facility she currently resides in, Kevin alleged her care specialist took indecent photos of her “in a state of undress without consent, disclosed [Wendy’s] location to third parties, and sold or attempted to sell the images and information to media outlets.” WTF! That’s a MAJOR violation of her privacy if true!
Kevin also slammed the judge for not permitting the former radio DJ to obtain counsel to submit filings, make appearances in court, and have access to previously filed documents related to her case. The complaint bashed the guardianship as “a weapon, not a shield,” noting:
“[Williams] remains a captive of a corrupt, criminal enterprise, and Plaintiffs submit this action to the Court in hopes of freeing her from this fraudulent bondage.”
Furthermore, the lawsuit insists Wendy successfully passed “a competency evaluation” in or around March (which her guardian previously said she refused to participate in) and has been “described by healthcare professionals as alert and oriented during welfare checks.” The complaint also cites her 2024 tax lien, the loss of profit on her NYC apartment, and the sale of her personal items as proof of financial mismanagement. Hunter estimated his ex-wife has lost $20 million a year in income due to not being able to work. He also claimed his son Kevin Hunter Jr. was not able to access his college fund and accused the defendants of using Wendy’s money to pay for the case against her.
Financial Mismanagement
Kevin went on to accuse her Wells Fargo financial advisor Lori Schiller of taking $60,000 from Wendy’s bank account and giving it to Dr. Rami Kaminski — who allegedly penned a January 2022 medical opinion letter declaring the A-lister “had impaired judgment and was incapable of making reasoned decisions.” Jeez. That seems sketchy! The complaint also accuses Lori and Wendy’s ex-manager Bernie Young of exploiting her trust and finances and spending tons of money without her knowledge, per TMZ.
The legal team went on to claim to have info showing the bank and Wendy’s court-appointed attorney Linda Redlisky “are financial contributors to Judge Lisa Sokoloff’s re-election campaign.” That would be a big conflict of interest!
Silencing Wendy
With all this evidence, Kevin believes Wendy is being silenced as those around her take advantage of her fortune, the filing noted:
“Beginning in February 2022, a coordinated and coercive campaign to silence and isolate [Williams] was executed through judicial orders and extrajudicial acts, depriving [Williams] of access to counsel, family, communication tools, and the ability to control her own narrative.”
Wendy’s Reaction
But here’s the shocking thing. Wendy told TMZ she has NOTHING to do with this lawsuit! In fact, it doesn’t even seem like she supports it. She believes it is just a money grab! She told the outlet over the phone that she’s not involved in the legal action in any way, even though Kevin — whom she divorced in 2020 after 21 years of marriage – claims to be suing on her behalf.
Hmm…
Wendy and Kevin did not leave things off on a good note. So, the fact he’s starting this legal action — supposedly without Wendy’s knowledge or involvement — is certainly inneresting. But, obviously, Wendy’s been eager to break free from this guardianship for a long time now, so we love to see someone fighting for her — we just hope it’s not for the wrong reasons!
