Could Benson Boone‘s heartbreaking new song win back his ex girlfriend?!
On Thursday, the pop star delighted his fans with a return to his more emotional music roots with a new single The Time Of My Life. Alix Earle starred alongside him in the video, which follows along the two of them performing a stage play. In the video, Alix and Benson are supposed to be playing love interests, but there’s an empty seat in the front row that keeps distracting him.
Throughout the narrative, Benson consistently thinks back to the empty seat as he sings lyrics about wishing his ex was still by his side throughout his budding career. At the end of the video, though, he finally kisses Alix — seemingly solidifying that he’s ready to move on after all the heartbreak… Or is he?

How cute! But seriously, those lyrics!! Especially when he sang:
“I am having the time of my life / And I wish that you were still right here / I wish you came along / And I’ll be standing here like a stone / Waves are crashing down, years of passion / How can the world keep moving on? / I will never let myself move on / This isn’t real life, this isn’t over / This isn’t real life, this isn’t over, dear / It can’t be over, dear”
That doesn’t sound like he’s ready to move on, even with that kiss at the end of the video! And it seems like his ex girlfriend might agree…

In case you weren’t aware, Benson was dating actress Maggie Thurmon for about two years before they suddenly broke up. This shocked fans because they seemed SO in love, and it further caused a lot of uproar when Maggie seemingly suggested Benson had cheated on her (although she would eventually take that comment back). There was a lot of drama with a girl from Benson’s past, and it seemed to be the catalyst of the breakup.
But has this new song won her back? Just hours after the song and music video dropped, Maggie shared a selfie to her Instagram Stories.
She set this picture to the tune of The Beach Boys‘ Wouldn’t It Be Nice?. Particularly the part that says:
“Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older? / Then we wouldn’t have to wait so long / And wouldn’t it be nice to live together / In the kind of world where we belong?”
OMG!! We mean…
And fans are definitely here for it! On social media, they’re all for a Benson and Maggie reconciliation:
“Girl take him back”
“PLEASE get back together omg”
“OMG MAGGIE WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE SONG?? PLEASE TAKE HIM BACK”
“So there’s this song about you… I think you’ve heard it”
But, what about Alix?? She and Benson were just spotted hanging out together ahead of the music video premiere, and they’ve done a few promo campaigns together for her Hot Mess pod and brand Reale Actives. Benson himself did deny they were dating at the time, but you never know if sparks could start flying! Though, this music video really made it seem like he’s not ready to let go of Maggie, either.
