Zayn Malik just paid the sweetest tribute to One Direction — exactly 10 years after he left the band!
The singer surprised fans by opening his first performance in Mexico amid his Stairway to the Sky tour on Tuesday night by singing the 1D tune Night Changes. Aw! After beautifully belting out the heartfelt tune as fans freaked out and sang along, the 32-year-old gushed:
“It’s the first time I sang that song in 10 years. Thank you, that was f**king amazing. I almost cried at one point. This is insane.”

As Perezcious readers know, Zayn shockingly left 1D on March 25, 2015, saying in a Facebook post that he wanted “to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.” The remainder of the group, including Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne, continued on for another year before going on an indefinite hiatus and starting solo careers.
Since Liam’s heartbreaking death last year, Zayn has honored him several meaningful times during his tour. It’s nice to see him do the same with the band!
