In a new interview, former current Backstreet Boy Nick Carter talks about the extent of his drug and alcohol problems.
After suffering from chest pains, Carter was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy – a build up of toxins that prevent the heart from pumping blood efficiently – most likely caused by years of excess.
Doctors told him that if he didn’t shape up, he’d end up…..dead.
The sobering news helped Carter clean up his shiteous act. He says, “I don’t want to be that person people read about and think, ‘That’s sad that he couldn’t stop it and killed himself.'”
8 months later, Nick’s turned his lifestyle around, although he does admit it is difficult at times. Fortunately, he’s surrounded with a good support group, who will help him out – should he need it.
