Jimmy Fallon Has A Reason To Laugh At His Own Jokes

Surprisingly, Jimmy Fallon ain't doing so bad as host of NBC's Late Night.
The SNL alum managed to come out on top in his first week, even beating his competition.
Not only that, but he also somehow managed to land the most watched premiere for a late night talk show, averaging nearly 2.4 million total viewers and more than 1.2 million adults 18-49, 21% higher than O'Brien's 991,000 Late Night average this season and 11% above his adults 18-49 season rating.
Not bad!
But can he keep it up?

Only time will tell!! He is the youngest of his kind so I'm sure many are wondering what he can bring to the table.

Of course his ratings are high, everyone is tuning in to see him FAIL.

Everyone is watching because Conan kept that time slot warm for him. I watched last night and they had a 'softball guest' on there (brian williams, on the NBC payroll) helping to keep him composed and trying to help get him over with the audience.
I mean come on, it's pretty bad when the GUEST has to carry the conversation! Jimmy looks like a monkey about to be shot off into space … totally out of his element … And how come he sweats so much?!!! He was on SNL, how come he is so nervous on a TAPED show?!!! Laughing at his own smart ass comments and telling fart jokes … and basically trying to be Adam Sandler 2.0 may have carried him thru SNL, but Late Night is a LEGITIMATE show … his days are numbered.

I like Jimmy, but to be honest, i didn't think he'd do too well. However, i have to admit that i've been pleasantly surprised, watching his show, it's entertaining! And i have to disagree with u perez, he has the cutest laugh, and it's adorable the way he laughs at his own jokes.
I've been watchong just to see how he'll do. He's awkward, and really tries too hard to be like Conan, which is pretty annoying. There will never be another Conan! Do your own thing Jimmy
I love that he laughs at his own jokes!! Hes so awkward and silly….I find it endearing! Ive watched almost every night this week. There were a few skits that were a little tooo awkward, because well, they werent any good lol, but the rest of the time he was lovable and funny! Im definitely going to keep watching!
Jimmy must have friends in high places, just like Nik cage. Both have no talent but somehow always get work. These two are both hacks. Jimmy was not funny on SNL and He's not funny on the late show. Is jimmy related to Francis Ford Copola like Nik cage. That might explain things. Ha Ha Ha, I just laughed at my own jokes! Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

C'mon, the only time Fallon was remotely funny on Saturday Night Live was when he laughed at his own jokes. That is all he got. Without that and if people didn't think he was cute, he'd have nothing. Ok, he can do a good Bee Gee impersonation, but what else?
And actually, I like him a lot more than Conan. Conan has that "idiot humor". Also, I can tell Conan is a jackass boss. I'd hate to work for him.
I think he has been doing a good job, I like him…he is a likeable guy.
yeah, you can tell that theyre retooling the show early- not to mention nbc hardly promoted the show until about a month ago… it's getting way better, not to mention he has plenty of a-list friends who will be guests- i dig the show… not to mention the ROOTS!!! BEST BAND CHOICE EVER!!!
I don't think he's trying to be like Conan at all. I have watched Conan for many, many years. Jimmy's humor is more upbeat and silly. I think he's done a great job so far. I'm sure he's nervous as hell but I've enjoyed it so far. I'm wishing him luck. I don't like seeing people fail. Unlike most of the commenters on here.

I actually like his show.. I think he just needs to figure out how to get more comfortable with the monologue or just do something different. People talked mad smack on Conan when he first started too.

Some of the jokes have been a little too obvious and lame. Sorry but that's what makes Conan such a pleasure to watch. He has a sense of humor and finds things funny that I wouldn't even think about. Like Jay Leno has the most unfunny jokes on TV. Letterman is second…. plus he's basically just going through the motions now.
Conan always took things to another level, even when he was on the simpsons.
(and yeah, the Simpsons sucks now too…obvious, predictable humor.)
he seems a little nervous during his opening monologue..but then when he gets to his guests he seems more at ease. he's gonna do great! can you imagine the pressure he feels???

Wow, this is one thing that I agree with you on Perez! He is funny but needs to stop laughing at his own jokes. We must remember that we're living in a country that has supported Jay Leno for so many years, who is, essentially, unfunny.
I like Jimmy Fallon but I don't think he stands a chance against the funniest, and best, talk show host on TV… Craig Ferguson.
As for Conan, he's not even mildly amusing…. I can't imagine him succeeding on the Tonight Show. Unless junior high school kids are the audience.

Jimmy Fallon is funny, sure he's nervous,people are mean spirited and jealous, he's hot and a sweetheart,fun loving guy and he sings,every woman's dream.So what if he laughs at his own jokes so do a hundred other comediens, people think Adam Sandler is not funny but he is,and look how far he got. A lot of comediens bust out laughing during a skit,so what,it makes it even more funnier and the audience love it. Did you ever see the Carol Burnette show in the 70's they used to bust out laughing in a skit all the time and she was on TV for 11 years,the people loved it, it was more hysterical. I don't find David Letterman funny or the late Johnny Carson for that matter, all the other comics get laughs at making fun of people and insulting them,that's all they do. I find them to be ignorant and an idiot. I hope Jimmy Fallon makes it and if not he has other talents he could do.
