Walter Cronkite $tiffs Girlfriend!

It doesn't seem spiteful, but we're sure she's disappointed!
After the passing of Walter Cronkite last month, his estate was divvied up between his three children and former aides at CBS, leaving out gal pal Joanna Simon.
For the past four years, the former opera singer and sister of Carly Simon was Cronkite's constant companion as they bonded over the death of their spouses.
The will was written before he met Simon in 2005 and never changed.
Nancy, Cronkite's daughter, claims that her father was extremely generous to his companion when he was alive.
"It was about my mother [Betsy]," said Nancy. "Dad said to us, 'I don't want to marry Joanna out of respect for your mother, and I don't want to share my estate with her.' "
She added that the death of her mother constantly affected the legendary TV anchor.
"I don't think Dad ever really recovered. His health was certainly exacerbated by this terrible, terrible blow."
Nancy, along with her sibings, Chip and Kathy, will inherit most of his estate, yet his chief of staff at CBS, Marlene Adler, and executive assistant, Julie Sukmann, will receive a large sum of money.
"We were both surprised and not so surprised, and delighted, of course," Adler said. "He was a generous, thoughtful man."
Leaving $$$$ to employees?!
He was a very special person who will be greatly missed!

well i agree that estates and all should go to the children… that's just theirs.. especially if it concernes a home where they grew up in..
if he wanted to leave his girlfriend something i think money would suffice, but even that is dependent on how long they were together, how close they were, etc..
I think he just didn't get around to it. Had he known it was close, perhaps he might have arranged to leave her an honorarium sum.
Another great from my state! RIP Walter. He in all honesty did not have to leave his girlfriend money. Her family already has money. Not Carly's but their father owe once owned the book publishing company of Simon Shuster~
I mean that was as good as it got back in the day. WEll that Simon happens to be their father. So looks like she has her own money. He must have had a great staff to remember to leave money to. This is how old school do it. Glad
he thought of his children and family first. I'm sure Ms. Simon is doing just fine.
She is from money. She doesn't need his. He left his estate to his children and some cash to his staff, that is it.
You don't deserve someone's heritage for spending 4 years with them. What I find evil is when a child is disinherited. There should be laws against disinheriting a child (including adopted). However bad is your relation with a child, it is your responsability. If the child is a criminal and in prison, then they shouldn't be allowed to touch the money after they're out of prison (or maybe 5 years after, to be sure), but dishinheritance of children = wrong.
What moron thinks a girlfriend should be named in the will? Just you Perez. Why on earth would this man want to do that? He has children. Of course his estate would go to them. You are so stupid!
Good for him. I have a lot of respect for him.
Why is it his responsibility to support her in his death? If he spent his life building his family and fortune with his wife, then it sounds like he made the best decision for him and his family. I'm sure she'll do just fine without a piece of his estate.
Simon comes from a wealthy family, doesn't need the money…ever heard of Simon and Shuster?
You think Joanna Simon is hurting for $$$?
I am pretty sure that Perez Hilton had never even heard of Walter Cronkite until a couple of weeks ago.
