An elephant breaks free of the circus in Ireland and makes a run for it. This does not bode well for property or people!

Check out the big guy try to make it back to the wild (above). It's going to take A LOT of manpower to stop this elephant!

PETA QUICK TIPS: Cruelty-Free Circuses

An animal-free circus is a cruelty-free circus!

PETA explains how they are even better because there's no animal abuse but just as much wonderment and thrills as ever.

Olivia Munn is a big animal lover and activist. She even stripped down for a PETA billboard calling for circus boycotts.

Now she has taken to twitter to support a bill that calls for a ban on exotic animals in traveling circuses.

She tweeted:

"THIS would be THE PERFECT way to start 2012"

Then she shared a link to an article about the bill.

The bill would add to the Animal Welfare Act and restrict the use of wild and exotic animals in traveling circuses.

The Rep. who introduced the bill to Congress last November said:

Paul McCartney has joined up with Animal Defenders International (ADI) to put an end to circus acts that use wild animals.

"I hate to see wild animals in circuses… It is heartbreaking to see these poor animals confined in small cages and carted around the country with little respect for their welfare and well-being.

I have made my feelings known previously on this subject and I believe an outright ban is long overdue."

We would have to agree.

The CEO of ADI said:

"We are very grateful to Sir Paul for supporting our campaign and helping to highlight the plight of wild animals currently languishing in UK circuses during this crucial time…

Let’s make Anne the elephant symbolic of a UK ban and ban the use of wild animals in circuses for good."

Anne is a circus elephant who was seen being abused by her owners on an undercover video, obtained by the ADI.

Apparently, in the UK, 3 in 4 people support the ban on circus animals.

This is the British equivalent of the American initiative, the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act, led by the ADI, Bob Barker and Jorja Fox.

Bob Barker, a well known animal enthusiast, and Jorja Fox, an animal advocate as well, had teamed up to help get three elephants moved to a sanctuary from a Toronto zoo where things were too cold.

And now they are in Washington, launching a bill called the Traveling Exotic Animal Protection Act.

One of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus elephant performers collapsed in Ontario, CA while being loaded onto a train.

Animal Defenders International (ADI) has filed a formal complain to check on Sarah, the sick elephant.

“Sarah is sick and the stress and fatigue has likely led to this dangerous fall. This elephant needs to be taken off the road immediately so she can be properly evaluated and treated by a veterinarian,”

said Campaigns Director for Animal Defenders International.

An organized protest will take place Wednesday, August 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the south side of Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario.

The Circus has come to El Lay!

While some stars like Sarah Silverman and Jillian Michaels are protesting the "Greatest Show On Earth" for it's animal abuse, plenty of other stars made their way inside the tent Staple Center to be entertained.

The Talk's Leah Remini The Office's Melora Hardin and Kate Flannery, Real Housewives Kyle Richards, Adrienne Maloof, and Gretchen Rossi along with Garcelle Beauvais, Joey Fisher, Samantha Harris, Gilles Marini, Adrienne Maloof, Olivia Holt were amoung the many celebs that attended The Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus and raise funds for to help out the Starlight Children’s Foundation at the Staple Center in LA.
