We love how REAL Demi Lovato is these days!
In a recent interview, Demi revealed that she wrote a "soulful" and "gospel" like song for her late father, who passed away from cancer in 2013. Dem's dad also struggled with alcohol and drug dependency issues, which a very sensitive topic for the singer considering she too battled similar demons.

The track, aptly titled Father, will be featured on Lovato's upcoming album, Confident. According to the 23-year-old the song will be a very "honest" tribute to her dad. Wilmer Valderrama's girlfriend revealed:
"I get very, very honest about the passing of my dad. My fans expect me to be honest, but what I think that people in general aren't going to expect is the way that I sing the song. I took it more to a soulful, gospel kind of sound, and it's the song that I think I might be most proud of on the album."
Aww. We're glad to hear that the Cool For the Summer singer was able to pay homage to her papa in a meaningful way.
Luckily for Dem, she has a great boyfriend and fans by her side to get her through the loss. Not to mention girl is rockin' a whole new confident attitude despite the haters (ahem, Pink!).
So, are U excited to for D.L.'s new album?
