Chace Crawford Submits Himself To Emmys As Lead Actor Contender For Gossip Girl

chace crawford submits himself for emmy

Looks like SOMEONE is taking a cue from Rob Lowe!

Despite the fact that both Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick of Gossip Girl declined to submit themselves to the Emmys, Chace Crawford is going for it anyway!

The actor submitted himself for the Lead Actor in a Drama category, even though the odds are seriously against him.

The only other Gossip Girl actor who submitted herself for an Emmy is Leighton Meester in the Best Actress category.

Good luck, Chace and Leighton! Who knows? Maybe this will be your year and you'll surprise shock everyone! Ha!

Do U think Chace Crawford deserves a Lead Actor Emmy for his work on Gossip Girl?

Ed Westwick Gets In Another Drunken Brawl!

ed-westwick-gets-into-drunken-brawl

Here he goes again!

Ed Westwick reportedly caused yet another drunken brawl Sunday night in NYC, after he drank too much tequila and rudely insulted a fan!

According to sources at Zinc Bar on W. Third St., the Gossip Girl actor was knocking back shots when a female fan approached him. He rudely to her to "get out of here," and then decided to unplug the bar's iPod and replace it with his own, even though he forgot to turn any actual music on.

He then went on another tirade against a patron who asked him to leave, and that's when the woman's husband stepped in, took the actor outside, and things got physical!

Although no fists were thrown, the insider claims the two engaged in a shoving match before the issue resolved itself.

Good lord! Chuck Bass is getting a serious 'tude!

Someone needs to get off his high horse and cool it with the drunken meltdowns, and STAT, or his career is going to be more stale than his character's storylines on Gossip Girl once the CW series ends!

From Gossip Girl To Shakespeare! Ed Westwick Joins New Romeo & Juliet Movie!

ed westwick joins romeo and juliet as tybalt

Look at you maturing as an actor, Mr. Westwick!

Back in January, we heard that Gossip Girl & S. Darko star Ed Westwick had signed on for a role in Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar. Now, he's getting his Shakespeare on in Romeo & Juliet!

As we already know, True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld will play Juliet, and now Westwick has been cast as Tybalt in Carlo Carlie's adaptation of Shakespeare's immortal tale.

We've also learned that Holly Hunter has been cast as The Nurse, but still no word on who will play Romeo this time around.

We suppose Leonardo DiCaprio is a bit too old for the part now, huh? LOLz.

How do U feel about the cast of Romeo & Juliet so far? Do U think Ed Westwick will be able to hold his own doing Shakespeare?

Gossip Girl Finale Didn't Do So Well…

Filed under: TV News > Ed Westwick

Gossip Girl Bad Ratings

In fact, it did so poorly out of the notable season enders last night that some of speculated as to whether or not it (and 90210 which BARELY beat it) should have been a series ender instead. Sorry, Ed!

Looks like the winners for the night were Dancing with the Stars, the season finale of Castle, and Hawaii Five-O. Two of them ABC shows. (5-0 is CBS) Let us just say that none of that comes as a shock to us, especially Castle, because we've said it before and we'll say it again: Nathan Fillion is rad.

The bottom dwellers of the evening (mostly NBC) included Chuck, Mad Love, 90210, The Event, Gossip Girl, and L&O:LA.

That's a bummer for the bottom shows, but we're willing to bet that they're there for a reason.

Here are some details:

ABC danced its way to another overnight Monday victory care of Dancing with the Stars, which stood well above anything else last night with a 14.8 rating/22 share from 8-10 p.m. Next on ABC was the season-finale of Castle at a dominant 8.6/14 at 10 p.m.

New episodes of canceled The Event (#4: 2.8/ 4) and Law & Order: Los Angeles (#3: 3.3/ 6). And The CW aired the season-finale episodes of 90210 (#5: 1.4/ 2) and Gossip Girl (#5: 1.2/ 2), which should have been series-enders.

Not awesome for the people involved, yeah, but like we said, there's gotta be a reason for such low ratings. Luckily, some of them have the chance to come back and earn their place next year!

Step up the game!

Great job to those who brought in the viewers!

Is Gossip Girl Glamorizing An Abusive Relationship?

Wow, we have to say, this is pretty disgusting - AND IRRESPONSIBLE - even for the world created in this show!

If you've been following Gossip Girl for the past four seasons, then you're aware of the tumultuous, extremely unhealthy relationship that has developed between the characters of Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf - you know, the constant scheming and manipulation in the name of 'undying love,' the fact that he pimped her out to his uncle - but on Monday night's episode, things went way too far.

Check out a clip of Chuck forcing himself on her, claiming her as his, and then punching his hand through window, which causes the shattered glass to cut her face (above)!

Now, we've all seen his character do pretty HOriffic, deplorable shiz before - assaulting Little J in the first episode, anyone? - and, to be fair, Blair is NOT innocent (although you can clearly see that she's genuine about making steps to mature), but what's most disturbing about all of this is that for some reason, the show's WRITERS seem to not only be rationalizing his behavior as "passion," but they support the two staying together!

In a post-episode follow-up interview, executive producer Josh Safran said:

"They have a volatile relationship, they always have, but I do not believe—or I should say we do not believe—that it is abuse when it's the two of them. Chuck does not try to hurt Blair. He punches the glass because he has rage, but he has never, and will never, hurt Blair. He knows it and she knows it, and I feel it's very important to know that she is not scared—if anything, she is scared for Chuck—and what he might do to himself, but she is never afraid of what he might do to her. Leighton and I were very clear about that."

Volatile relationship?

Is that right? Because we're pretty sure in that episode we saw Chuck not only assault and objectify her, but also use physical intimidation to frighten her, and prior to that scene, humiliate and publicly degrade her in front of a woman she was trying to impress by discussing their sexual history!

In our book, and according to most definitions, that's an abuser!

Let's take a look, shall we?

According to signs of an abusive relationship:

"Does your partner see you as property or a sex object, rather than as a person?"

Last season, he not only traded HER BODY to his uncle for a hotel, but then blamed her by saying it was her choice to go. Check.

"Does your partner act excessively jealous and possessive?"

"You'll never marry anyone else. You're mine! You're mine, Blair!" Enough said. Check.

"Your abuser may use a variety of intimidation tactics designed to scare you into submission. Such tactics include making threatening looks or gestures, smashing things in front of you, destroying property…"

The video above. Check.

And this is a character we're supposed to want to get the girl at the end?! Is this what the writers and crew want to showcase to their audience?

That it's okay to treat the supposed love of your life like this because you're going through 'issues?'

We understand that this is a fictional drama in an extremely heightened and unrealistic reality, and we're not against Chuck being a flawed character, but to promote his behavior as acceptable, or worse, put him back together with Blair is just WRONG. And as we said, it's irresponsible.

Even from a writing standpoint! If Blair is truly maturing and aware of how unhealthy her relationship with Chuck is, then her character would know better than to get back with him! Which we sincerely hope is the case.

We've seen enough of this controlling, all-consuming, unhealthy and borderline abusive bull shiz in Twilight and between Sammi and Ronnie on Jersey Shore, and we expected more from you, Gossip Girl!

Girls need to know that there is NOTHING romantic or reasonable about being treated like this by a man. It's wrong, plain and simple, and should not be tolerated.

What do U think?? Did Gossip Girl go too far??
