It's such a bummer these two can't get along!
The confidante went on to explain:

On Wednesday, the Trumbo actress addressed the controversy with England's Channel 4 News, and came to the defense of the Academy!
When asked if she felt the prestigious award show was "behind the times" for having all-white actor nominees for the second consecutive year, she said:
The Super Bowl is right around the corner which means it's time to break out the beer and Buffalo wings!
While you're doing that though, Budweiser and the "notoriously frank and uncensored British lady" Helen Mirren want to remind you to drink responsibly.
In a new commercial that will air during the big game on Sunday, Mirren rips alcohol consumers who drink and drive calling them "a shortsighted, utterly useless, oxygen wasting, human form of pollution…"
Ch-ch-check out the rest of the ad (above) to find out what else Helen has to say about drunk drivers!
It's the annual Vanity Fair Hollywood issue!
And we're proud to report that it's a little more diverse than previous years.
The issue is known for almost always relegating actors of color into the foldout cover so they don't appear on the actual front page, but this time Viola Davis gets to share it with Jennifer Lawrence, Jane Fonda, and Cate Blanchett.
Progress, we guess.
There are also gorgeous individual portraits of all the women shot by Annie Leibovitz, which you can find in the gallery (above)!
But first, watch a clip of the women talking about their hoped-for legacies (below):
OK, seriously, how old is Helen Mirren?!
You'd NEVER guess the British actress was 70 years old based on her AH-mazing look (above)!!!
The Trumbo actress is nominated for three SAG Awards, and that itself isn't too bad, but she decided to put everyone to shame before the show and OWNED the red carpet tonight!!
Loving this Jenny Packham look — it's simple, form-fitting, elegant, and she pairs it perfectly with Stuart Weitzman shoes, a clutch, and jewelry.
More Helen Mirren for us, please!

Slay, Helen Mirren, slay!!
The Trumbo starlet took our breaths away she she came down the blue carpet at the Critics' Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday!
We absolutely love her elegant black and white gown for this event, especially because she wore it with such ease.
The dame even styled it with a white clutch, Kwiat diamonds, and a beautiful smile!
This 70-year-old is showing her peers how it's done!

It was a tight race for the award for Best Supporting Actress at Sunday's the Critics' Choice Awards. In an exciting turn of events, Alicia Vikander beat out award show vet Kate Winslet and snagged the coveted trophy.
We couldn't be more excited for Miz Vikander since she was an absolute scene-stealer in the 2015 flick The Danish Girl. Not to mention, the 27-year-old was trumped by the Steve Jobs actress at this year's Golden Globes. Oof!
Also, the wins kept coming in for the Swedish performer as her Sci-Fi project Ex Machina took home the prize for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie. Woo hoo!
The other nominees in the category were It Follows, Jurassic World, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Martian.
Be sure to ch-ch-check out her touching acceptance speeches for yourself (above) and (below)!
But it was also a huge loss to fans of great acting!
However, just because the Brit is gone, doesn't mean we've seen the last of him! The prolific Harry Potter star still has two more movies that he made that have yet to be released — Eye in the Sky and Alice Through the Looking Glass!
As you might know, Through the Looking Glass is a followup to Tim Burton's hit movie Alice in Wonderland where Alan voiced the blue caterpillar. In the trailer (below), his magical voice is the first thing you hear.
Ch-ch-check out the first trailer for the Disney sequel (below)!
