Arrested Development Film Definitely Happening!

arrested-development__opt1.jpg

A big sigh of relief can be had by all Arrested Development fans - the movie is on!

At a roundtable interview for his new movie, Extract, Jason Bateman gave away some deets about the status of the film verision of Arrested Development.

What is the state of “Arrested Development”?

Jason Bateman: The script’s being written and when Mitch (Hurwitz) is done with it we can go to the scheduling part of it which will probably prove to be a bit challenging given the size of the cast.

And they’re all attached?

Jason: He is asked us not to speak about specifics, but that he’s working on it.

It seems like 5 or 6 months there was a lot of momentum. A lot of people talking about the film. And then it seemed like it sort of got a little bit quiet. Everyone’s a little nervous it’s actually happening. Is it, in fact, actually being written right now?

Jason: Yes.

That’s 100%?

Jason: Yeah. Yeah. That’s never changed. I mean people have guessed and “rumored” and all that other stuff in all areas of the media. I’ve always been a little sort of…I’ve always felt bad that I never had more information to give people when they asked me about it, but I guess people kind of got frustrated by that and they just started kind of making up their own sort of “well, we haven’t heard that much” or “news hasn’t changed so it must be going away”. I don’t know. It sort of took a life of its own on and fatigue started to set in I think about the whole story of it. I mean, there’s really no need to write anything about it at all until he’s done writing it. Once he writes it then, just like any movie, then it becomes something a little bit more real and then you try to figure out scheduling and you try to figure out people’s deals. I mean, it’s got the same life that any other project would have. It has just as much a chance of happening as it does of not happening really.

There you have it!

How many of U are stoked to hear it's finally coming together?

Taking the Bate!!!!

Yum!

Jason Bateman, a man gifted with the rare combination of humor and looks, graces the cover of August's Details magazine.

The hawt poppa opens up about resurrecting his career and his past as a wild child.

Here are some HIGHlights:

On stopping his drug use: “Booze was what would make me want to stay out all night and do some blow or smoke a joint or whatever, so shutting that off was key. It’s like ketchup and French fries – I don’t want one without the other. So that’s the moment: Do you want to continue to be great at being in your twenties, or do you want to step up and graduate into adulthood?”

On his partying ways: “It was like Risky Business for 10 years. My parents were out of town, they left me a bunch of money, the car, and the house, and I didn’t know when they were coming home. I’d worked so hard that by the time I was 20, I wanted to play hard. And I did that really well.”

Maniston on Bateman: “Even though he was pretty wild in those days, something about those dimples and that sweet face made you go, ‘Oh, it’s okay that you just drove up the street backwards in a Range Rover with the door wide open.’ I don’t know what was happening there. You feel instantly safe in his company.”

We love a good comeback, especially when it looks like that!!!

Michael Cera's Doing the Arrested Development Movie, Says Co-Star

tamborcera.jpg

Jeffrey Tambor, the actor who plays Michael Cera's grandpa on the TV cult fave Arrested Development, apparently knows lots of stuff about the TV-to-movie project that we don't!

In a recent interview the guy also known as Pop Pop said the movie is totally happening and Cera as George Michael is for sure.

“If I have to call him up and say, ‘Get on set right now, young man,’ he’ll be there,” says Tambor. “The movie is going to happen this year, and Michael Cera is on board. Trust me.”

This may be news to Cera!

We'll only believe the original George Michael's coming back it if Jason Bateman or Cera himself says it!

We Heart Becks' New Buddy

Much better than Mr. JLo, Becks!

David Beckham hit an L.A. Lakers game this past weekend with actor 'pal' Jason Bateman.

Is Becks an Arrested Development fan?

It looks like the soccer star is getting into the spirit of things Italian. He was sporting an Italy NBA track jacket at the game.

As y'all know, Becks will be playing for AC Milan starting early next year for a few months.

Behave, David!

Everyone, including spies Posh will probably plant around town, will be watching you.

Mitch Hurwitz, who created and exec produced the Emmy-winning comedy series and legendary director Ron Howard have supposedly closed a deal with Fox to work on the big screen adaptation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hurwitz is on board to write the film as well as direct with help from Howard.

We're excited about the possibility of Jason Bateman and Michael Cera teaming up again!

Blast from the past!

No, he's not making a sequel to Dazed & Confused, sadly.

Sporting a long wig, Ben Affleck was spotted on the set of his new film, Extract, Thursday in Los Angeles.

Yes, that's Jason Bateman next to him.

Quote of the Day

wenn1928456.jpg

"I've spent all my fun chips and now I've parked my drinking boots in the closet. I haven't had a drink in four years. There wasn't any real specific bottom to it. I was just ready to graduate from adolescence and try my hand at being an adult. And, quite honestly, the woman I was in love with was not really that tolerant of it, so I turned it off."
