The BBC Puts a Stop to Any More Jonathan Ross Whipping

jonross.jpg

Enough is enough!

Russell Brand's prank-calling partner, UK late night chat host, Jonathan Ross, won't be punished any further for harassing old school Brit actor Andrew Sachs on Brand's former BBC radio show, according to new reports.

Ross has already been suspended from his BBC show without pay for 12 weeks.

The BBC Trust's chairman said on Friday that it was content with the sanction already imposed on Ross.

"We are very clear that the director general (Mark Thompson) has taken the right action with respect to Jonathan Ross and we see nothing new in the evidence that we have received to go further than that," said the chair.

Thank goodness the BBC didn't do any more overreacting!

Russell Brand Pirates Bound?

rusbrand.jpg

Big Russell Brand news!

The "overreaction" victim may be appearing in the next installment of Pirates of the Caribbean as Johnny Depp's brother.

A source tells the UK's Sun that Russell has been in talks with the Disney people about the role and that the part could mean an $8 million payday for the funny guy.

Take that BBC!

The insider goes on to say:

"There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either. Russell joining the Sparrows alongside Johnny and Keith Richards as their dad will complete the ultimate on-screen pirate family.”

We can totally see him in the role!

Good call, Mouse.

But, don't eff this one up, Russ!

Russell Brand Resigns from the BBC!!!

russsell1.jpg

Russell Brand has just resigned from his BBC radio show because of Prank Call-gate!

He issued the following statement:

"I have apologised to Andrew Sachs for the rude messages I left on October 18th and he has graciously accepted. As I only do the radio show to make people laugh I've decided that given the subsequent coverage I will stop doing the show. I've loved working for the BBC and am very proud of the shows myself, Matt Morgan, Nic Philps, Mr Gee and Noel Gallagher have made and I apologise to all of them for damaging their careers -except Noel, whose band are doing quite well. I got a bit caught up in the moment and forgot that at the core of the rude comments and silly songs were the real feelings of a beloved and brilliant comic actor and a very sweet and big hearted young woman. Apologies are also owed to the loyal listeners of the show who enjoyed its shambolic spirit and anarchy and will be upset that it cannot continue. I take complete responsibility and offer nothing but love and contrition and I hope that now Jonathan and the BBC will endure less forensic wrath. Hare Krishna".

Dayum! In the UK, a prank call gone bad can 'cost' a comic big time.

Imagine if those same standards applied to the US.

A shitload of people would be out of work!!!!

Woo hoo to corporate owned entertainment!

Russell Brand Effs Up. Again.

russell-brand__opt.jpg

The Brit 'comedian' is on an fuck-up roll!

You can add 'job suspension for prank calling' to the recent list of idiocy that includes the MTV VMAs and showing up to the wrong red carpet event.

On October 18th, the 'comedian' and a popular BBC Late Night TV host, a guy named Jonathan Ross, left obscene messages on 78-year old Brit actor Andrew Sachs' answering machine as part of Brand's BBC radio show. One of the 'upsetting' things that Brand said to Sachs is that he slept with his granddaughter who's part of a burlesque troop called Satanic Sluts.

Well…..she is in a group called the Satanic Sluts!

The state-supported BBC has received more than 18,000 complaints about the horrible treatment of the senior thespian.

Both Brand and Ross have been suspended until further notice from their BBC jobs.

The Sachs granddaughter spoke out and said, "What's funny about humiliating a lovely old man who has never harmed anyone in his life? My grandfather is really upset and says he wants the whole situation to end."

A BBC suit said, "This is not a marginal case. It's clear from the views expressed by the public that this broadcast has caused severe offence and I share that view. This gross lapse of taste by the performers and the production team has angered licence payers."

Russell and Jonathan are lucky they weren't fired!

But, seriously, isn't everyone overreacting a bit???

Russell Brand's Red Carpet Faux Pas

russ__opt11.jpg

Oopsie!

Oliver Stone's W. premiered in the UK at the London Film Festival on Thursday night and Russell Brand was part of the Brit celeb crew cheering it on.

However, according to reports, the MTV VMA host made a funny boo boo on the way to the W. prem.

He mistakenly hit the red carpet event for the film Secret Life of Bees!

He doesn't seem like the 'chick flick' type or a Dakota Fanning fan. So when Russ arrived, a buzz engulfed the Bees red carpet.

When his silly boo boo was pointed out, the crazily-coiffed funny man said, “A chick flick? I’m here to see George Bush! That’s what you get for wearing sunglasses at night! You can’t see a thing.”

He then ran back to his car and made his driver scoot him 20 meters to the correct venue.

Needless to say, he arrived at W. late and undoubtedly disturbed the already situated viewers.

Plus, can you imagine having to sit behind that massive head of hair of his?!

One of the screen organizers supposedly bitched, “There are over 150 film screenings this month at a number of different venues, and Russell is the only person to have turned up at the wrong one.”

Russell Brand Scores Again

russ__opt1.jpg

It's a big year for Brit comedian Russell Brand in the US of A!

First, a big role in a major film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Then, he served as hosting for this year's highly rated MTV Music Awards.

And, now, his very own one-off on Comedy Central!

According to a new report, Brand has been contracted by the home of South Park to shoot a one-hour stand-up special.

The special will feature the Brit funny man and 'an eclectic roster of special guests'.

It will tape in November (in the NYC) and is slated to air sometime in 2009.

Here's what the ladies man had to say about the new deal, "COMEDY CENTRAL is the home of 'South Park,' 'The Daily Show,' and 'The Sarah Silverman Program.' I am thrilled to have such esteemed neighbours — particularly Sarah whom I shall be constantly troubling for cups of sugar and milk, breast milk."

Work it, Russ.

Sticking to Her Guns

wenn1674089__opt.jpg

American Idol winner and VMA rebel rouser Jordin "not everybody — guy or girl — wants to be a slut" Sparks told EW that she stands by the comment she made at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, though she wishes she could've reworded it a bit:

"It's something I feel strongly about. I wish I would've worded it differently — that somebody who doesn't wear a promise ring isn't necessarily a slut — but I can't take it back now. It was a split-second thing, and it came out kind of wrong. Still, I don't regret it."

When she was asked how she felt about the purity-bashing VMA host, Russell Brand, the Idol said, "I have nothing against him at all."

Between the Jonai, Jordan, and Miley, young Hollywood's beginning to look like church camp.

And Slutty Cyrus is Mary Magdalene!

The Jonas Bros: "Russell Brand Needs A Hug"

mx0142098.jpg

Yesterday, the Jonas Brothers publicly commented for the first time on Russell Brand making fun of their virginity during this past weekend's VMAs.

Basically, the Jonai are cool with it. Nick said, "For us it's cool to see that he recognises we are gentleman." He even said he thought Brand was hilarious when he appeared on Conan O'Brien.

And, now the Bros as still being asked about the incident, and until they grow tired of answering the same questions, they're gonna tell us a bit more.

When asked again about Brand's comments on Wednesday, Nick said, “I don’t know if there is really a positive (to come out of Russell’s comments) - he was kind of running out of material after a little while.

Very true.

And when asked if they had a message to give Brand, big bro Joe said, “I’d give him a hug. I think he needs a hug!

Hugs make the world a happier place!

The bros then went on to happier news about the weekend, such as meeting Britney Spears.

Joe said, “We met a lot of people there- we met Britney Spears and she was incredible!”

And Kevin added sincerely, “It was an honour to lose to her as well.”

Always such gentlemen!

russ__opt1.jpg

2008's MTV Video Music Awards delivered!

In the key 18-34 demographic, this year's show ratings were 15% higher than the 2007 broadcast and 41% higher than the 2006 edition.

The show was also the highest-rated telecast on all of cable in the 12-34 demo this year.

Dayum!

We guess casting the unknown Brit comic Russell Brand didn't bite the net in the ass!

MTV.com also saw a boost this year.

Its VMA-related pages delivered more than 10 million page views, a 110% increase over last year.

But, y'all know there's a certain someone MTV needs to tip its hat to for the massive ratings.

Britney. Spears.

You know you tuned in just to see her!
