Could The Eighth Season Be The Last For Desperate Housewives?

Teri Hatcher 8 or 9

We'd hate to see them go, but you can't argue with ratings.

So the real question is: is ABC confident in finding another hit to replace Desperate Housewives, or do they want another year to look around?

Everyone is signed back on for the 8th, with easy potential for the 9th. The higher ups are trying to decide right now if they want to go out with a bang this year or stretch it into next:

"Others, however, think ABC may wait until September to see how its new shows perform, and if Desperate Housewives sees another ratings drop. "It's all dependent on the ratings," says one insider. "It will be up against some stiff competition."

Not only will Housewives compete against CBS' The Good Wife this fall, it also regularly faces Sunday Night Football on NBC (should the NFL season resume as hoped) and key programming on cable. Housewives was the 24th most-watched prime-time show among broadcast networks last season, but has lost about half of its audience from Season 1."

It's a shame to hear that they've lost about half their audience, that can't be a positive factor in bringing it back!

We're kind of torn on this, because 8 seasons is no slouch for a series run. They've had their time and the ratings are starting to reflect a lack of interest. Despite how much we love those ladies, we can't help but wonder if the replacement could be fresh and mind-blowingly exciting!

What do U want? A 9th season or a new show?

Teri Hatcher Desperate To Have Lawsuit Thrown Out

teri-hatcher-lawsuit.jpg

We don't blame her. Its coming on year that it was filed and NOTHING has come of it!

Teri Hatcher has filed paperwork to have a lawsuit brought against her by former friend and business associate Jennifer Glassman thrown out.

According to Teri and her legal team, documents from Jennifer's team aren't being delivered in a timely manner, and that should be grounds for dismissal. In the court documents she filed, Terri's lawyers explained:

"Hatcher and ISBE Productions are bringing this motion in an attempt to unnecessarily halt and stall this litigation. Plaintiff has worked with Defendants for the last two months in a good faith attempt to address and resolve document production issues so that this matter could proceed accordingly…Plaintiff does not believe there is any spoliation issue that would justify staying these proceedings."

Translation - She's over this!

If she's lucky, the law might come to her rescue and she will be free and clear of this whole very soon. It really just depends on how invested her former bestie is! We shall see!

Desperate Housewives Pave Way To Season 8!

Desperate Housewives Close In On New Deal

Wow, has it been 8 seasons already?? Time flies!

But that's good news for the ladies of Desperate Housewives, because that means they're in the middle of a renegotiation of deals, and with anything that lasts that long you know they're pretty much going to get what they want to come back!

Here's what's up:

"The deals are for one year, with an option for a second. With the quartet on board, ABC will renew the show for an eighth season though it is unclear if that will happen right away or closer to the May upfronts. Their new base salary would be around $325,000 per episode, up from about $275,000 under their most recent deals. With additional compensation, including back-end and bonuses, the actresses' paychecks are expected to go up as high as $375,000 per episode. If their options for Season 9 are exercised, their base salary is slated to go up to around $350,000, plus other incentives. If Desperate Housewives goes to nine seasons, which has always been creator Marc Cherry's vision for the show, the four leading ladies' entire compensation package for the next two seasons is valued at close to $18 million for each."

18 million dollars for two seasons?!? That's an incredible deal! Of course, it's no where near what the MaSheen was getting for Two and a Half Men, but it is nothing to shake a stick at.

Impressive, ladies! We hope you land the deals you want, and we can't wait to see you back on our TVs!!

Stars Without Makeup: Teri Hatcher

stars without makeup teri hatcher

Lookin' great, Teri!

Yesterday, Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher was seen leaving the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood, completely makeup-less, yet still adorable!

As we've said before, Teri is a natural beauty! She could completely cut out makeup AND botox from her beauty routine, and we think she'd look just fine.

…Of course, a little makeup wouldn't HURT…but she def doesn't NEED it AT ALL!

Latest On The Housewives: One Contract Renewed, Three To Go

desperate-housewives-contract-talks__opt1.jpg

Can't have a show with just Teri Hatcher, so let's hope the rest of the ladies follow suit.

Sources are reporting the latest intel behind-the-scenes of the contract negotiations going on at ABC for Desperate Housewives.

Supposedly, Teri is all set with a new contract with the alphabet network, securing her for more seasons of the Housewives. However

Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria are still dragging their heels and are insisting their demands for raises be met. The last we heard, each of the ladies made $400,000 per episode.

We have a feeling they'll get what they want in the end. The ratings are still pretty much there to warrant it.

But what about Vanessa Williams? No one has said anything about her yet? Is she coming back???

It May Not Be Over Yet For The Housewives!

desperate-housewives-contract-talks.jpg

There's no official word yet form ABC, but sources close the show are revealing that Desperate Housewives is still in negotiations - for one last time.

Rumor has it that when then eighth season comes to a close next year, that will be the end of Wisteria Lane forever. So far, no one from the network has said anything about negotiations or a renewal, which has made speculation on the fate of the series run ramped.

But one source is suggesting that things are taking a bit longer than usual for the renewal of the show because of the nature of the leading ladies contracts. According to an insider, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross are all making sure they get a "substantial pay out" on their contracts as these will be the last they ever get. The insider suggests the ladies are willing to stay through season ten, as that's when creator Marc Cherry's contract runs out. The insider reveals:

“Yes, that is why things are taking a little longer. People want it to be a substantial payday, and would like to be fair to everyone involved. But the vibe for now is positive and there hasn’t been any fighting yet.”

Well, that's good to hear. We'd really love it if the rest of the Housewives could leave the show on good terms.

So, there might be some hope afterall! Keep your fingers crossed!
