Hero Dog Saves Two Little Girls From Venomous Snake

In Australia, a heroic dog saved two little girls when a venomous snake came into their backyard.

The 7 and 2-year-old girls were headed to their backyard swing set, completely unaware that a brown snake was waiting right near the swings.

The brown snake is one of the deadliest snakes in the world, with venom so powerful it could easily kill a full grown adult.

Luckily, the family's 18-month-old Australian cattle dog, River, swooped in to save the girls.

Check out the above video to see how the dog saved the day and how he's doing now.

Woman Brutally Kills Pit Bull For Chewing On Her Bible

Filed under: Dog > Legal Matters > Pit Bull > Sad Sad

Some people just make us sick.

A disgusting woman in South Carolina has been charged with felony animal cruelty for killing her nephew's pit bull.

She hung the dog from a tree with an electrical cord and then burned her to death.

All because the dog chewed on a bible.

Poor doggy...

Animal control officers said the 65-year-old woman killed Diamond, the female pit bull, because it was a "Devil dog" and she worried it might hurt neighborhood children.

So far, she is still in jail, with no lawyer and no bail set.

She faces anywhere from 180 days to 5 years in prison if she is convicted.

We hope she gets the maximum sentence.

How can somehow have such a lack of empathy?

The world would be a better place without people like this in it.

Hero Dog Throws Himself On Top Of Woman During Domestic Abuse Assault

Filed under: Amazing > Dog > Great Dane > Inspiration

hero-great-dane-saves-lady__oPt.jpg

This is absolutely incredible.

A hero dog has changed the policy at a battered woman shelter.

Last year, a woman was nearly beaten to death by her boyfriend.

He literally took a hammer and began beating her with both ends of it.

When she was lying on the floor, near death, her Great Dane threw himself on top of her, absorbing most of the hammer blows from the boyfriend until the man threw them both out of a second story window!

We have trouble even believing one human could do that to another.

When the woman called a domestic abuse survivor shelter, they made arrangements for her but not her savior… no pets were allowed.

The CEO of the center said:

"She was not going to leave her pet alone with him. He saved her life."

Her Great Dane had suffered several broken ribs, a broken hip and serious bruising.

The shelter had to make an exception for this hero.

They said that 40% of woman who suffer domestic abuse won't leave their pets for fear of leaving them with the abuser, so they live in their car or they stay.

Risking their life for their animal.

The CEO said:

"They provide so much comfort, and to have to leave that pet behind is so heartbreaking.

It has become abundantly clear that the incredible therapeutic benefits that pets can have on a family greatly outweigh the cost and inconvenience of housing them."

So the CEO's center has built 7 kennels and now takes pets.

It took the love, loyalty and bravery of one dog to change the policy of women's shelters, and save 40% more lives.

Amazing, simply amazing. This dog deserves a medal.

Yorkie Sets Record For Smallest Working Dog

Filed under: Awardz > Cuteness! > Dog > Yorkie

Lucy, the Yorkshire terrier, has just been named the Guinness Book of Records' smallest working dog.

She is a therapy dog, visiting disabled children and the elderly.

The three-year-old pup works for Leashes Of Love, making her rounds at nursing homes, special schools and hospitals in New Jersey.

Lucy is only just repaying the favor, she herself was shown some real kindness… by her owner.

Her owner saw her when a woman came into her pet boutique with her and said she was headed for the shelter.

She said:

"She was so pitiful and lethargic I couldn't leave her. As any mother would, I vowed to help her. I wasn't going to turn my back."

So now Lucy spends her time being tiny, cute and helping others.

What a good dog!

Could the Duke and the Duchess have a new four legged friend?

William and Kate were spotted along the beaches of North Wales with cute little pup. The royal couple were snuggled together as their companion trotted along the damp sand.

Sounds like a romantic 30th b-day gift for Kate!

The couple were spotted playing with pups on New Year's and rumors have hinted William wanted to give Kate a puppy for Christmas.

Looks like Bo Obama has some new competition!

Mitt Romney Strapped His Dog To The Roof Of His Car

Filed under: Animal Cruelty > Crazzzzy > Dog

mitt-romney-dog-roof-car__oPt.jpg

As the presidential elections gets closer, more and more skeletons will be coming out of candidates' closets.

Even if it happened back in 1983.

That's apparently when Mitt Romney put his dog in a carrier, strapped it to the roof of his car and took the whole family, with the dog on the roof, on a trip from Boston to Ontario!

WHAT?!

Yup. This all came out on Howard Stern's show.

Stern said:

"Mitt Romney seems like a fairly levelheaded guy. But there's one story that I read about him… This sounds crazy to me. This is a real character flaw… I can't even believe it's true. They say that Mitt Romney had a [dog]. He had to take a long car ride. He tied the dog to the top of the car…

I'm talking about-not like from his house to the drugstore… Like one of these crazy long trips-and the dog even s**t all over the [top] of the car because the dog was frightened… It shows me that this is a guy who has really whacked out judgment.

It is so bizarre to take your family pet and strap him to the top of the car… It just shows me that there's a lack of empathy for everything living.

To me, Mitt Romney treated his dog like a mattress or a Christmas tree. This bothers me. It just doesn't seem like good judgment… It's like the Beverly Hillbillies. And the Beverly Hillbillies treated the critters better! I just see it as weird."

Wow. That's ridiculous.

Mitt, would do you have to say for yourself?

"This is a completely air-tight kennel mounted on the top of our car. He climbed up there regularly, enjoyed himself.

He was in a kennel at home a great deal of time as well. We loved the dog.

It was where he was comfortable and we had five kids inside the car and my guess is he liked it a lot better in his kennel than he would have liked it inside."

We're sorry but did you say "air-tight?"

Did you fit your dog with a scuba tank before leaving?

Either the dog was being suffocated for hundreds of miles or he was being blasted by wind.

This is disgusting and we won't be surprised if this really hurts his campaign.

Man Does Nothing After His Puppy Drinks Liquor

black-lab-pup-drunk__oPt.jpg

A man in the UK has been banned from owning a dog for three years after his puppy drank vodka!

The man was drinking vodka and coke (gross) when he put it down on the floor to go outside and smoke.

When he came back in, the drink was gone.

His puppy, Max, had drank it all!

The owner was drunk himself and had to go out and DJ so he left the dog with his roommate.

Later that night, two girls spotted the dog outside, falling over himself and staggering around, so they called the cops.

When the police arrived they took the dog.

The prosecutor in the owner's case said:

"Due to the state of the dog the police officer, being an animal lover himself, took the dog to the emergency vet."

Good thing for animal lovers!

Max the puppy was put on a fluid drip at the vet's and he was fine by morning.

The judge, in an oh-so-Britishy fashion, said:

"I do hope that when you do have a dog again you make jolly sure that your drinks are not in reach."

We hope he never gets a dog again.

At least little Max is okay.
