Legally Blind Archer Sets Olympic Records

Blind Archer

It's one thing to set an Olympic record…

… it's another thing to do it when you're legally blind…

… and another thing to do it in a sport where you absolutely need your sight!

Im Dong-hyun has the set the first world records of the London Olympics, even though he's a legally blind ARCHER.

He broke his own record in the 72-arrow mark and helped South Korea set a team record during Friday's ranking round — with a score of 699, just hours before the 2012 Games official opening ceremony!

Being so excited about it, he ripped off his shirt and kissed a nearby girl emphatically. He then shot an arrow into the air that had a firework attached to it that EXPLODED in a beautiful display of colors!

Just kidding!

He said this:

"This is just the first round, so I will not get too excited by it."

He has only 10 percent vision in his left eye, and 20 percent in his right, meaning he is considered legally blind.

So how does he even shoot?

Well, when he looks at the targets, he sees colors with blurred lines between them. He doesn't even wear glasses in competition — relying on being able to distinguish between the bright colors of the target!

That's incredible!

Good luck, Im!

Contact lense misuse

Think you're taking good care of your eyes and contact lenses? Think again!

A recent study published in the December issue of Optometry and Vision Science has found that only 2% of 400 people surveyed are following the rules for safe contact lens use.

The most common contact use errors included showering or swimming while wearing them, sleeping in them and using a pair for a longer time frame than recommended.

Dwight Cavanagh, a clinical professor of ophthalmology who surveyed the contact users, had this to say about their careless misuse of the corrective vision tool:

Mila Kunis Was Blind In One Eye

Mila Kunis has been keeping a health secret from the world — she was blind in one eye for years.

The Black Swan star suffered from chronic iritis, an inflammation of the iris.

Said Kunis:

“I was blind in one eye for many years, and nobody knew. I was blind. I'm not blind anymore. I had surgery a couple of months ago. They cut it open and dropped a new lens in there.”

Mila refused to comment on her break-up with Macaulay Culkin.

We can’t believe she went so long without telling anyone!
