Several animal rights groups have written the London 2012 organizers to try and persuade the director of the opening ceremony, Danny Boyle, to not use live animals.

The opening ceremony planned to use 100 farm animals in the show, but animal groups warn them they may face severe consequences.

Under the 2006 Animal Welfare Act, it is illegal to intentionally cause undue fear and distress to animals.

There are six groups in total agreement that the experience of being in the show would be "highly stressful and probably terrifying experience for them."

The groups are Animal Aid, Animal Defenders International, Captive Animals Protection Society, Compassion in World Farming, Peta and Viva.

They want Boyle to use puppets and animatronics.

The lead organizers of the Olympics said that they will be working closely with the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals to make sure the animals are "better looked after than the volunteers."

We bet it's too late at this point to just scrap the whole animal part.

Let's hope the show really conforms to all the animal laws or else Danny Boyle might have a whole lotta angry people to deal with.

It seems that most people (and horses we're sure) are happy that HBO's series Luck has been canceled.

At the premiere of A Few Best Men in Rome, director Stephan Elliott, Kris Marshall, Olivia Newton John and her husband John Easterling were on the red carpet… alongside a goat.

Was it maybe one of their pets?

All we know is, its pretty cute and kinda funny to bring to a red carpet.

DOUBLE cuteness!

Gerard Butler was spotted walking his adorable pug, Lolita around Malibu Saturday.

Are we the only ones that think they look SUPER happy together? It's a shame Butler can't seem to find that kind blissful monogamy with a human.

His seksiness next flick is Ralph Fiennes (aka Voldemort)'s directing debut of Shakespeare's Coriolanus.

We are sooo excited for this movie!!

New stills from Cameron Crowe’s new film We Bought a Zoo have been released.

The Almost Famous director admitted he wasn't animal totally obsessed with animals before the working on this project. But now he's seen the processional and personal benefits form animals.

"I didn't know the power of the animal on-screen. I don't have a million critters around the house. But I may now, though."

AW! We have our fingers and paws crossed that this film will be Crow's big come-back.

It's a… Giraffe!

The Virgina Zoo hasn't yet revealed the baby's gender - but it doesn't matter, we love it regardless.

After a two-hour labor and a six-foot headfirst drop, giraffe parents 10-year old Billy and 9 year-old Imara welcomed their new baby last week.

The gestation period for Giraffes is 15 months, so this birth has been long anticipated by Zoo staff. Many Zoo visitors were lucky enough to watch uh… magical… process of labor and birth.

The zoo's executive director explained the idea of a six-foot drop sounds scary to people, but it's normal for a Giraffe — and since baby Giraffe can be 6-feet tall and 150 pounds, the fall doesn't seem so far to them!

The Zoo will announce a baby naming poll at a later date.

Our most favez monkey actress, Crystal, is back!

It's only been a few months since the capuchin monkey America's hosttest new actress dazzled movie goers (and illegal downloaders) in The Hangover Part II.

Coming this December, Crystal will be co-staring in Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe​'s We Bought a Zoo! (His first feature film since 2005).

Crowe said of the monkey's performance:

"We feel this is Crystal’s breakthrough performance. It is her Carnal Knowledge. The role brings out colors we have yet to see. It is more mature than her Todd Phillips work. She is not just the hottest actress around, but also the most compelling"

We sure hope he's telling the truth!

The writer/director is relying on performances of Crystal and her co-stars Matt Damon​ and Scarlett Johansson​ to recover the critical reputation he damaged with Elizabethtown.
